A meeting.

Like any other.

...

Except it wasn't.

"What's up guys?" UN asked in an upbeat manner, probably to ease the tension in the room as the last few countries filed in and everyone sat down. He himself was situated on a podium, drumming his fingers on the wood as he bounced around to some imaginary beat, smiling widely at anyone he made eye contact with.

Everyone was used to his manner of being, and accepted it, though most found it a bit obnoxious. EU, ASEAN and a few others stood on chairs behind him. EU did his usual glare as people made eye contact.

"Are we starting yet?" France asked him when they had all settled down. UN put up a thumbs up, glancing at his notes before beginning.

"So as you all know, we usually only have meetings when there is either new news that affect or may affect the majority of the population, or a break-through has occured on this very land," UN explained, his clear voice reflecting off the walls and reaching those at the very back.

He spoke after a pause of anticipation. "It's the latter today."

A few countries shifted in their seats, and few even sighed. Most however, was intrigued to find out about the organisations new revelations.

"--This is not recent however, it had started decades ago, and is now suitable to share with the public, although only fellow countries may know about this," UN raised a finger.

"Get to the point!" One yelled, making a few countries near them flinch.

"We will, buddy," UN calmly smiled in return, his friendly demeanour not changing a bit.

The country scowled in response, slouching into their seat with impatience.

"Fucking shit, I hope his mouth is in excruciating pain from all that grinning," they muttered.

UN ignored the comment. It seemed that countries didn't bother to learn that some of his senses heighten when he wish them too. Especially his hearing. Although, he has a habit of tuning people out instead.

"So, we've been conducting experiments, and we've discovered that when countries lose power, they will not be required to go to psychiatric wards," UN revealed, receiving a lot of confuzzled looks. "Yes yes I know, this is perplexing, but it's very simple really. As long as you maintain their mental stability, which isn't too difficult, they can take a few pills and continue to live life among us. Who knows, they may even learn a few things while they're at it!"

Someone raised a hand.

"Yes Germany?" UN answered, clapping his hands together.

"Wouldn't that disrupt the economic system already put in place? Humans would lose jobs very quickly, and we all know how much they earn already..." Germany fumbled around with his hands worriedly.

"Oh don't worry, we're not currently planning to rehabilitate the others already in the wards," UN said, glancing back at EU, who flashed him a brief smile. "It's not safe as it is right now." He simply added.

EU nodded at this statement.

"So what makes this whole experiment safe? Are there any test subjects? If so how many? How accurate are the results? Is this a change which will impact all of us-" Germany went on a tangent before EU cleared his throat purposefully loudly.

"I must admit, Germany, we have only tried this once. But it's still a break-through, even though it might be a lucky anomaly," UN laughed a bit to ease the tension that rose.

"B-but don't worry, we're-" UN was about to continue, but Germany had realised something.

"Who did you try it on?" Germany suddenly grew serious.

UN frowned, although for a quick second. It was like Germany had hit a point where even he didn't account for.

But soon after, he slowly smiled.

"Of course, how could I forget?" UN said. "I would tell you, but I'm worried that that would skew the results if you attempted anything."

It was his normal smile. But the mood had changed in his voice.

There was an underlying tone of spite and detestation. It felt too formal- like a thinly veiled insult.

"Of course you could also guess who," UN suggested to Germany, almost mocking him. Was this imaginary? Was this playfully mocking tone imaginary? Germany might have thought so, but his expression said otherwise.

"This is not a guessing game UN, this is a supposed scientific discovery,"

"A scientific discovery that I am informing you about Germany. I have no reason to just spill every detail when we aren't completely certain of whether it is deemed acceptable pass on," UN breezily said. "Do you understand, Germany?"

"Yes sir," Germany nodded reluctantly, "But may I ask why this is being conducted now?"

"-And on countries that may deserve poor treatment!" France chirped in confidently, resting an encouraging hand on Germany's shoulder as a way to tell him that she was on his side.

Germany smiled at his wife, but UN's smile seemed to only get more strained at this.

"No better time than the present!" He nearly stuttered, ignoring France in the process. He glanced back at EU, although in a more unreserved way.

EU nodded.

"Okay, so now we shall move on from this topic, which we will soon cover again, hopefully, when the time is right," UN hit the table with the palms of his hands, snapping the focal point of the room back to him as countries have been staring at Germany for his apparent 'bravery'.

Meanwhile, France was fuming at UN's disregard of her existence. Germany pecked her on the cheek. "You've done enough, France," he said softly. France blushed, her frown melting.

Someone else put up their hand.

"Yes, UK?" UN asked, brightly.

"Man invited everyone, even the Non-Member States right?" Britain narrowed his eyes, crossing his arms as he leaned back in his chair. He was scrutinising everyone, as to be sure that he wasn't missing anyone.

"Very much so!"

Britain locked eyes with Vatican City, who gave him a warm smile in return.

He looked back at UN.

"Man doesn't see USSR," Britain cast an accusatory look.

UN shuffled a bit. "He wasn't well,"

Britain opened his mouth, but closed it again after a look of thought.

"Aight,"

"Alright, so now we can summarise what has happened last week! Russia will speak first--"

The meeting went on as normal, and it pretty much left most countries feeling more or less satisfied. Although, some... not so much.

Britain and Germany made eye contact.

Britain raised his eyebrows as if he was asking Germany if he felt the same way.

Germany nodded.

Britain nodded back, turning to his papers that he had written the night prior. Most countries have to write one in case they were called upon to talk about their situation. It was like homework. That's why everyone pretty much hated meetings (very big generalisation here, some countries knew others who LOVED this) unless some shit was going down.

And some shit was about to go down.

...

But they wouldn't be writing about it.

Just so you're aware, next chapter we'll be in Brit's POV right after he shuts the door in USSR's face

So yeah we'll be going back in time for the next chapters!
