"You called?" Japan stood in South's doorway, fidgeting around.
"Yes! Yes I did," South beamed. "I made something for you."
Japan stopped fidgeting at once, eyeing South suspiciously. "You called for that?"
"Mhm!"
"Couldn't you have dropped it off instead?"
Well, it was South after all. It seemed more mysterious and South of her to do that. Instead, she asked Japan over? A bit odd.
At the absence of South's reply, Japan continued. "Okay, hand it over then,"
"No rush Japan, cakes are delicate,"
"Come again?"
A cake? What the heck? That's the nicest recorded thing South had done to Japan lately. But even this deed seemed to be dripping in evil intent.
"I baked a cake in my spare time. But it'd be useless if I didn't give it to someone so I thought I'd give it to you since I'm lactose intolerant,"
Who knowingly bakes a cake when they know they can't eat it? Why does she own milk she can't drink? Does she sometimes have people over that hate lactose-free milk? All these questions rushed through Japan's head.
"And you haven't poisoned it? Or done anything suspicious to it?"
"No, I wouldn't think so," South laughed as if they were having a regular chit chat.
To be honest, that cheesed Japan off a bit, but it scared her more.
"Where... is it then?"
South reached over the sofa, pulling out a box with the supposed cake. "Here!"
Japan reluctantly took it in her hands. "No explosives?"
"You're a funny woman!"
"No explosives?" Japan repeated more firmly.
"Nope. Open it," South replied. "It won't harm you, I swear."
Japan stretched out her fingers over the flaps, contemplating dropping it and sprinting away. However, she couldn't help the feeling that South was telling the truth.
"Are you sure?" Japan asked, wondering if South was getting annoyed. To her surprise though, South kept her composure.
"Yeah!" South said. "Remember? Those cakes you ordered back then weren't poisoned. Remember when we got along, for just one day?"
Japan wanted to forget that ever happened.

Japan usually worked low paying jobs because she never liked expectations taking up half her life. If she could just go home with cash to pay the rent, taxes, and food she'd be fine. This was fine.
She never stayed with one job for more than 3 months anyways- it didn't matter since she was all around the place. She was only meant to stay in this neighbourhood for a year before she got bored and moved somewhere else.
Japan started walking more slowly, boxes still in hands. She parked on the side of the road, but this person ordered a lot and she didn't want to go back to the car so they could take it instead. Good person tendencies! God, and this house was all the way on the other side of the street. If this road wasn't so jam-packed with cars maybe this would be easier.
Stopping altogether, she narrowed her eyes. Was that South? Cutting her already-short grass with scissors? Who does that? South Korea, she guessed. Yeahhh no, she wouldn't let this slide.
