And so the festivities began.
Loud music played in la casita as the guests partied and danced. Laughter filled the air and you played short snippets of ballads on the guitar.
Eventually, you got dragged into a dance circle and everyone somehow knew the dance but you, so you copied everyone's moves to the best of your abilities. As everyone else stepped one way, you would copy slightly delayed, untim you caught on.
The party was incredible and lively.
You danced the night away, moving from stranger to stranger, and ended up with your feet burning from your heels and probably blisters by the end of it all.
Sometime later, you began to feel a tad dizzy, you didn't know whether it was from all the spinning, drinks or not eating much that day, or maybe a combination of all of those thing. But, you decided to go outside to, hopefully, feel better.
You stepped outside, hugging yourself as the cool night air nipped at your skin and the hairs on your arms rose.
You stood there for a while just staring into the dark, music still blaring, but faded. Hearing something faintly behind you, you turned to see Dolores, standing and fiddling with her thumbs and biting her cheek.
"Hey," she whispered as she inched closer to you.
She walked in small quick steps to your side and she, too, hugged herself.
For a long moment you just stood there in deafening silence, the noises of the party seemed worlds away, both of your eyes refusing to meet the other's.
Once the silence got painfully unbearable, you took a sharp inhale and began, "So about the other day..."
Her wide eyes darted to your face, completely giving away that this is what she wanted to talk to you about. Her fingers were drumming at her sides and she listened intently to what you would say next. She subconsciously leaned closer.
"Yeah.. um.." you could barely think straight with her so close to you again. Those deer eyes, her hair, her cheeks, her lips.
Suddenly, you found yourself lost for words as you breathlessly leaned closer and closer again.
This time, there was nobody to interrupt. Nobody to ruin it.
She reached to the side of your hair to the red flower and touched it gently, "You're so beautiful," she spoke softly as she closed the space between you.
Her lips were soft and warm, a million sparks flew. The cold of the night seemingly disappeared into her warmth. You could hear fireworks, unsure if they were real or in your mind but that was not important.
