"It's all in my head. I'm fine. He's not here. Everything is okay. I'm okay."
Naruto repeated the same lines over and over again as he sat in the floor of his bedroom. He had his knees pulled to his chest, hugging them as tight as he possibly could, while rocking back and forth. He started to get a headache as his eyes were squeezed shut so tight it was painful.
But nothing the blond did or said could silence the voice that seemed to come from inside of himself. The one that kept repeating the same things over and over again. The sentence that Sai drilled into his brain.
'You would be better off dead'
Naruto gasped as he heard a knock at his door. Holding his breath, he didn't dare to make a sound. His mind was in turmoil.
"Naruto? I have to run out real quick, but I'll be back soon. Are.. are you going to be okay alone for a minute?"
'Alone'
That word was now on repeat in his mind. That's exactly what he was now.. alone. He let out a sad smile as tears streamed down his face. The memory of Sai's words playing in the forefront of his mind.
'No one will ever love you. Look at you, you're disgusting. You bring this on yourself for thinking you deserve to be loved by someone else.'
Naruto put his head back down as he heard a sigh come from the other side of the door. He wanted to tell Sasuke that he would be fine, but he couldn't find his voice. Listening to the foot steps fade, Naruto felt the void in the silence that now consumed him.
Naruto sat in the same position with the same negative thoughts circulating for what seemed like hours. Finally hitting the point of disassociation, he stood from the floor and walked out of his room. Glancing around, he realized that Sasuke wasn't back yet.
'This is the perfect time'
Naruto walked over to the front door and began to put his shoes on. Trying to ignore the trembling that was taking over his hand, Naruto took a breath as he placed his hand on the doorknob.
There was no turning back now.

Sasuke impatiently tapped his foot on the ground as he glared at the pharmacist. He had taken the prescriptions Iruka handed him to the nearest pharmacy to fill as he was told. But he couldn't settle this feeling in the pit of his stomach.
Something about the silence that consumed the house after Kakashi and Iruka left, unsettled him greatly. It was as though a plague was going to ripple through at any moment.
"He's just asleep. Naruto is fine." Sasuke mumbled to himself over and over again. Though he was trying his best, he wasn't very good at convincing himself.
He grumbled under his breath as he glanced at the clock and back to the pharmacist again.
'10-15 minutes, my ass' he thought to himself.
Letting out an annoyed sigh, he made his way to the counter as he had finally been called back up. Though it had only been about 30 minutes, the young Uchiha had lost his patience 5 minutes prior to reaching the building.
Once he snatched the bag out of the cashiers hand, Sasuke stomped out of the building, heading back towards his house. Though he was only about 10 minutes away, he felt as though he couldn't get home quick enough.
Suddenly hearing his phone ring, Sasuke fumbled to get it out of his pocket, dropping the bag in the process. Seeing who was calling him, he clicked his tongue as his mood worsened.
