"work? Dad it's 8:30am. The pubs aren't even allowed to be open yet"

Even when Pete is angry at Jodie he always kisses her head it's his way of saying i love you if he doesn't want to say it

"she was kissing my ex boyfriend and then talked shit about my dad, happy"

"I'm still grounded"
"i figured when you didn't answer your phone, i brought your favourite sandwich from subway" he pulls a sandwich from his bag and she immediately digs into it

In walk Ben, Scott, Marc and his girlfriend Mia and Kieran and his girlfriend Sophie
"Hey Jods, how's things?" Sophie smiles sitting down
Jodie has said numerous amounts of times that girls are bitches, but she's always made an exception for Sophie and Mia, they are both older so they always look out for her
"they've been okay, im back from suspension tomorrow"
"i must say, you are the talk of the school for good reasons. she was the one kissing your ex boyfriend and he was kissing her" Sophie starts glaring scott who rolls his eyes

"and you literally gave her a black eye and a busted nose and lip, you done a good job" Mia finishes for her
"Glad i left a little gift for her"
"Jodie, come help with the drinks" Jay says from the bar
"i'll help" Scotty jumps in quickly
"you don't need to, i asked Jodie and you know none of us are really even in the mood for you interacting with us right now so, leave it be"
"i just don't get why you have to asks Jodie" he mutters
"i just don't get why it should matter to you, you were the one with your tongue down another girls throat" she picks up the drinks and carries them to the table where she sits next to Jay and Ben
"You've got that question wrong on your maths homework" Jay points out
"Wait what did i do wrong?"
As Jay explains it his arm is around Jodie's back as he points to where she went wrong. Everyone else is having conversations amongst themselves not really noticing the pair of 16 year olds but one person does, Scotty. He already doesn't like how close they are getting even if it has only been a couple days since the broke up.
Jay genuinely never meant any harm by how close him and Jodie have become in the last day or so. There has always been feelings but he was happy for Jodie and happy for Scott when they "got together" because he was a good friend. He wouldn't want to do anything without checking with Scott first and he also wouldn't want Jodie to feel pressured after just coming out of a relationship which was a thing for much longer
"There you go, you've got it now"
"Oi oi" Pete says walking in with the GSE
"Now i do love you all but can you all go away so i can catch up with my dad"
The group get up and Jay gives her a smile picking up his bag
"Get me at break tomorrow, i'll explain all that to you. We have a test next week"
"okay thank you!"
As everyone leaves Pete takes Jodie's books and goes through them "did you get all your work done today then?" Pete asks with a hint of anger in tone still angry about what happened
"Yeah"
"Did you work?"
"Yeah"
"Terry?"
"There was only three table to be served, she did all three and cleaned up nearly every table in here"
"okay fine, your phone is back. Only because the constant notifications are annoying me" he hands Jodie back her phone and she immediately takes it
"wow" she says opening instagram
"what?" Dave asks peering over at her phone
"rachel is pregnant, oh oh oh Marcus is the dad. That's new. I'm sending that to the group chat"
"so you've got on to gossip?" ike asks
"it's not really gossiping if it's been posted on social media and if her account isn't private"
"is your account private?" Pete asks
"yeah, just got a bit of followers"
"how many followers?" Keith asks

Jodie passed her phone over to Pete who stares in shock
"You actually have over two thousand followers"
"Ben has over two and a half"
"i'll never understand kids these days" Dave sighs and all the men agree
