"You are Vijay's daughter?" He asked for confirmation. I nodded and said "yes".
"But how is that even possible? S-she died in the fire that night!" That was the most horrific thing I heard till now. I scoffed to myself as I thought I knew my soul died that night with my dad but I never knew someone had faked my death too.
"So you know something, isn't it Raghav Hirwani?" I asked, he looked at me with a different emotion now and said "I know what happened that night Disha. I was there and the details of that night are carved in my mind in such a way that it's impossible to forget."
I calmed myself because hearing everything again exploded with a chillness all over my body that I just want to curl up in my bed yet I'm here maintaining my poker face, seeking for my answers.
"Spill it out, I'm listening." I said but in return he just laughed and said "what's in it for me?"
"Well I might help you to win your case only if you cooperate." I pressed the button, below the table and immediately my lawyer came into the room with a briefcase with him.
He put our agreement paper on the table in front of Raghav with a pen. When he left I said "Sign the paper and the case will be all yours."
He picked up the papers and said I want my lawyer. I sighed because of all these delays "Well you have one hour. Do whatever you wish but I want your answer afterwards. Otherwise I'll find out what happened that night myself and I won't let you go to Hirwani. Not this easily." I warned him and exited the room.
I went into my car and took out my private phone and messaged 'Our plan has worked, the prey has taken the bait.'
I waited in my car and in the meantime I called Arush. He picked up my call on the first ring like he was waiting for my call only.
"Hey Aru, how's u feeling now?" I was concerned about him.
A very weak voice answered from the other side "Dishu I miss you soo much when are you coming to visit me it feels like I'm waiting for ages."
I laughed slightly and said "I'll visit you as soon as you are discharged from the hospital. It's just that they are not allowing me to meet with you."
After talking with him for a few more minutes I ended the call and again texted on my phone with the private number 'Is everything going smooth.'
After a couple of seconds I got a message saying 'smoother than ever before.'
**********
Once again I'm seated in front of raghav but he seems to dozed off into his heavy thoughts most probably reconsidering his decision. I cleared my throat most probably not wanting him to change his decision. "Just so you know I don't have a whole day."
He glared at me and said "Alright I'm gonna tell you if you tell me what's written in this contract, if you answered correctly and told me what my lawyer has said, then all the information you need will be yours."
He leaned back, crossing his thick arms over his chest while carrying an arrogant smile. He is such a fool I thought to myself isn't it obvious that I'll go through the contract before handing it to him or he could be baffling with me.
I nodded nonchalantly "Ofcourse Mr. Hirwani. It's a deal in which all your blame will be on your wife. Eventually you will get bail from here and plus the house which I have snatched from you will be returned back to you. Isn't all these things enough for you."
I continued, "Or you could stay in this jail and enjoy a one day meal." I teased him slightly to see his reaction.
He took a long breath and signed the contract, I did a hurry dance silently in my mind and took back the contract of course it wasn't for his benefit but for mine. He was more foolish than I thought.
