Winter was approaching fast, meaning snow days and breaks for Jungkook to have all day with his computer. Yet for now he only had after school hours.
Standing behind his chair he chewed on the back of a mechanical pencil, gagging when a bit of eraser came off. "Yoongi you've been, I dunno, dead? You aren't acting out as much as you used to." Jungkook whispered, he was used to Y00NG1 constantly listening but he just wasn't reacting anymore. "After what you did I'm scared to mess with the code." He sighed, sitting down he stared at the drawing on the screen. "Yoooo-"
"Yes I get that you can say your name but that's it, those are the only sounds you can make, and I can't find any code to add more in." Jungkook sighed as he curled his legs to his chest, after his tech teacher passing in a crash he didn't have much motivation. "Yoongi." The high pitched, cracking voice called out again. "What? I cant afford a voice actor to get you a proper voice and even if I could I wouldn't know how to add it." Jungkook mumbled as he dropped his head on the desk. "Oooo!" The speaker whirled making Jungkook look up. A weird line of code had been highlighted.
"Make it blue if- wait you don't understand colours, god what am I thinking." Jungkook whispered to himself, deciding to just take the risk and click the weird line.
What opened were weird voice clips, hearing Y00NG1 whirl again one highlighted. "That doesn't explain how to add more." Jungkook sighed. Luckily having both How and Add in Y00NG1's code another weird line highlighted. Clicking on it without high hopes Jungkook tilted his head, a screen filled with weird switches had shown up.
Hesitantly he hit a play button, hearing nothing come out he realized every line said zero. Turning one up a few dials he heard a shaky sound come from his speakers. "Are you fucking kidding me." Jungkook dropped his head on the desk. "Let me guess, just like with word recognition you just repeated me so many times internally this line of code became active and you copied the sounds I made." Jungkook sighed, hitting himself in the head a few times. "-OH!" The computer shouted at him, Y00NG1's face had switched to an angry expression. "Huh? Calm down? God you're confusing." Jungkook sighed.
Jungkook quietly fumbled with the switches, hoping to have a base idea of how the voice coding worked. "I wonder.." Jungkook whispered, hitting play he got a tone which sounded similar to a voice, like a base tone. Adding it in he slowly and cautiously edited the code, making it so all other sounds were under the base tone. This meant syllables would all have the same base voice if he worked it out correctly.
"Okay.. Yoongi?" Jungkook asked with his fingers crossed. "Yoongi." The monotone voice repeated, making Jungkook have a mini celebration. "Okay, okay, perfect, now just make it sound more like a voice that would match you, right?" Jungkook mumbled to himself. "Yyyy." The voice hummed. "Yes? Makes sense, there's no E or S in Yoongi." Jungkook smiled to himself, sitting back for a minute to think over everything that had been happening.
"God Yoongi.. it's been only- what a month or so? Yeah probably a month, and you're already this advanced? You can hear me Yoongi, you can understand that I'm speaking a language you can learn, do you know how crazy this is!? You were supposed to be a game for fun, now you're- you're... what are you..?" Jungkook mumbled as he stared at the screen, it was weird to refer to a program he created as a friend, but he felt like that's what Y00NG1 had become.
"Yoongi you're like my friend, you're not quite there but you're getting closer and closer by the day." Jungkook smiled.
"nnnnnooo, oy, ee, eeeenn."
"No clue what the fuck you just said but cool."
