Chapter Sixteen
“So what’s up? Why did you want to come here?”
“Well I know you mentioned a few weeks ago you wish a guy would take you on a nice long walk in the park, so I thought I’d be that guy.”
“Wow you actually remembered.” I said more so to myself but Travis heard anyway.
“Yeah, I really like you, and I actually listen to every word you say. I know you like mint Oreo ice cream and your favorite color is purple, I know your favorite candy is starburst and you’re absolutely obsessed with that one guy Trevor Jackson. I know that when you laugh shyly at the ground and ignore my compliments, it’s because you don’t get told you’re beautiful enough. You’re afraid of getting hurt but if you let me be the one to love you. I will NEVER hurt you; I’ll always be here to protect you if you’ll let me.”
I stood there on the verge of crying. I tried talking, but when I opened my mouth no words came out. I just stood there with a wild look on my face. I felt under pressure, if I said no I could be turning down a good guy but at the same time I know my mom wouldn’t approve of me dating no matter how good of a Travis was.
“I don’t want to make you feel pressured or rush things. I know we just meet not to long ago but my feelings for you are real.”
Finally being able to gain my train of thought I asked the question I had been wondering for the longest. “Why me?” I said as we sat down on the bench.
“Because you’re different” He said sitting closer to me. “You’re the kind of girl a nigga can take home to his mama. You know what you want and you wont settle for anything less, that’s what I like about you.”
“I feel the same about you; you’re way different than any other guy I’ve met.”
“Do you wanna be my girl?” He asked. Looking down at the floor.
“Yeah, I wanna be your girl.” I said watching His face light up. I couldn’t help but laugh. He held my waist and went in for a kiss. The first time it wasn’t anything but a little peck, but the second time involved more tongue action. We sat there making out for about 10 minutes until my phone rang and interrupted us.
“Oh shit it’s my mom.” I said panicking.
“Well maybe you can tell her you were out with some friends.”
“She’ll never believe me.”
“Maybe if I was to meet her, it’d change her impression of me.”
“No you don’t understand, my mom goes completely crazy when it comes down to me and boys would you be able to drop me off at home?”
“Yeah, let’s go.” We ran over to his car and sped off trying to get me home ASAP.
We got to my house but for some reason I didn’t want to leave.
“Goodnight babe” He said unlocking the door. He grabbed my arm and we kissed one last time before I got out of the car. I walked up the front porch smiling from ear to ear. I looked back as he was watching me walk into the house safely before speeding off. I tried gathering my thoughts together before I walked into the living room. I couldn’t think of a lie to get me out of this one so I guess I’ll just be telling the truth. Hopefully my mom doesn’t kill me before I get a chance to explain.
