Today my friend leaned over
And whispered to me with a sinful smile,
"What's your biggest fear?"
I memorized the tiles below my feet.
"It's personal," I whispered to the science beakers full of life-altering substances.
"Really, what is it?" she asked.
I looked up and breathed.
"I'm afraid of not being liked. By anyone."
She said, "aren't we all?"
I replied, "maybe."
