A Dependency on Hope

Hope is the thing our heart cannot destroy.
Hope is untampered, untamed.
Hope is what shivers between molecules of the otherwise foggy, doomed air.
Hope is what we exhale in a flush of disposable carbon dioxide.
I need hope.
Hope is the drive--not the break pedal.
It's the parachute--not the landing.
Hope is everything
and
I am nothing.
Hope can be brought from me to you in a single breath.
I cannot waste my hope.
I can only diminish what I have--
until the hope is
gone.
My only fear--
it will take me with it.
