Prince Alexander's POV
Before Alex knew it, Monday had arrived he found himself in the library's sitting room waiting for the first eligible to arrive so that they could get acquainted with one another, away from the other girls, while Lucas leisurely sat on one of the chairs, aimlessly flipping through one of the thousands of books in the room.
"You know, I never truly understood Romeo and Juilet." Lucas yawned from one of the cozy chair.
"I find that hard to believe and don't say that in front of your mother." Alex muttered while he looked out of one of the floor-to-ceiling windows.
"I never will. Can you believe that she got me to start reading novels at twelve?"
"Yes, that is why I find it hard to believe why you don't understand a Shakespeare's classic."
"I guess I'm just not into the whole classic literature genre. I enjoy a good crime and mystery novel that keeps me on the edge of my seat as well as Harry Potter."
"Ahh, yess. Good ol' Harry Potter."
"If only Hermione were real, I'd marry her." Lucas joked.
Alex laughed and shook his head just before they both heard the footsteps enter the library, walking through it down towards them.
Lucas looked towards the arched way that connected the main part of the library to that room. "Looks like they are here."
"Prince Alexander. Prince Lucas." Madam Eunice acknowledged both of them when she and a young brunette haired woman walked in, but was a little shocked to see Lucas there.
"Madam Eunice." Lucas nodded and stood up from the chair. "I'll be going now. Excuse me."
"Your highness, this is Miss Woods. I'll leave you two to get acquainted."
"Thank you Madam Eunice. Good morning, please take a seat." Alex told the young woman politely gesturing to one of the chairs.
"Thank you your highness." The brunette said and took the seat opposite Alex.
She had dark eyes the same colour as her hair, a light tan skin complexion, was a little short and slim, and wore a nice respectfully baby blue summer dress that stopped a few inches above her knees with white flats.
"So does Miss Wood have a first name?"
"Stephanie."
"Stephanie, well I am Alexander. Its nice to meet you." Alex said.
Although he has seen her around the palace, he has never had a conversation with her nor the other eligibles. She was one of the first girls to arrive and because it was a smaller group back there, so he only managed to have dinner with them but afterwards, he and his family ate separately away from them because more girls started to arrive and it was beginning to get crowded.
The young woman giggled. "Yes, I know and it's a honour to meet you too."
Alex smiled too. "Forgive me if I am being too intrusive, but you don't have a Northdenian accent."
"Yes, I am originally from Wales but my family and I moved here five years ago because my father was offered a job here."
"What does your father do for a living?"
"He is a Aircraft Engineer."
"I actually wanted to be a Pilot growing up."
"Really? Wow." Stephanie was surprised at this.
Alex chuckled. "Yes."
"Is that still a dream now?"
"Hmm...not anymore. Its a little difficult to be a pilot when you're next in line to take the throne."
Alex spent an hour with Stephanie, getting to know her a little better and saw that she seemed like a very down to earth person. After that, he met up with Lucas and their other younger cousin brothers and they all went swimming in the large pond on the grounds inside the wooded area of the property.
"So, how was it?" Lucas asked, as they both sat on the bank, watching the younger boys playing in the water.
"It was fine. She seems like a nice person." Alex replied, looking down and plucking a few blades of grass with his fingers.
"When are you meeting the next eligible?"
"At three in the afternoon."
"Ha ha ha! I told you that I'm faster." Reynold howled with laughter from the other side of the pond, capturing Lucas and Alex attention. He was Lucas small brother after him.
Looking at his direction, they saw one of their cousin brother, Julius entire face and torso covered with mud. The only part of his face that they could see clearly was the whites of his eyes and his hazel pupils.
"What happened?!" Alex asked chuckling while Lucas lay on the grass laughing.
"Julian tried to chase Reynold but ended up slipping and falling in that muddy area over there." Jackson answered as Reynold doubled over, still laughing at a clearly furious Julian. He was the youngest boy in the group and also Lucas small brother.
"That area is like that, you guys need to be careful." Alex told them. "Are you alright Julian?!"
"Yes, except for the mud still in my nose." Julian answered, trying to blow them out.
"Okay, that's enough then. Let's head back up to the palace and try to wash it out."
The rest of the younger boys all groaned and grumbled in dismay. They didn't want to leave because they were really enjoying themselves and didn't get to see each other often because some of them lived in different parts of the country while others lived in other countries.
"Stop it. Let's go." Once Lucas said this, they're complaining stopped. He was older than the lot of them and unlike Alex, he was rough and didn't mind bullying them.
Throwing a shirt over his naked torso, Alex and his cousin all went back up to the palace and went into their own bedrooms to change before meeting back downstairs to watch some television in the entertainment room. Seated on the large couch beside Reynold, Alex wondered about when he was going to see Avery. He was curious to learn a bit more about the florist.
