You could barely hold yourself back. You turn around, directly facing him (for once, seeing as he lowered yourself to diminish the height difference between the two of you) and sigh.
"Hm, Lucifer, now who's become the bad influence? Here I was thinking about RAD work, my future as an exchange student-but you? What were you thinking about? Hm?" You say, batting your eyelashes at him over-dramatically, placing your hands on top of each other as if an expecting teacher.
He laughed heartily at your comment, before placing a large pile of work onto the table and sitting down next to you.
"Work it is then, darling." He said. The word 'darling' had slipped out so casually he wasn't even glancing at me for a reaction. You stomach fluttered with butterflies. Oh right-fake relationship. Mhm. He could genuinely become an actor if he wanted to, you thought to yourself.
After several hours of work, with only a few glances at him and random questions in between (such as, "What does this word say?" And, "What is this person asking of me to really do?") you flipped your last piece of paper over, and slumped on the sofa. At this point in time, it was around 2-3 P.M, and your back ached for some movement.
You yawned and stretched, looking at Lucifer's second pile which he had started, before taking half of if and placing it before you, immediately starting his work, leaning your chin on one of your hands, spinning your pen around whilst reading. You did not even realise the silent shock Lucifer was experiencing as he saw how you had so swiftly thought of him, though you could feel his smile as he chuckled and went back to work.
To be frank, you expected his work to be harder than what it really had been, though at times many of the papers were useless complaints or speculation of students in the area. For example, how on earth was Lucifer supposed to help someone who claimed that there were too many pets in the area? He's not a bloody exterminator wiping out animals left and right, is he? Gosh, some of these people were really being irritating: you could barely imagine what it would feel like to talk to them in real life.
Some of the papers were allowed to go through to the next stage or directly to be approved or already approved if it is an easy task, yet many of the papers you had found deserved to go straight into the bin. Lucifer raised one eyebrow as you threw yet another paper into the bin. Somehow-you had managed to get all of the unprofessional ones from his stack.
"Are you sure you are-"
"Yes. I'm sure. Those papers have nothing at all to do with RAD, they drive me insane, and I wish I could knock some sense into these fools." You say, rubbing your temple together, clearly frustrated. "Oh, and, I kept some of the letters from some of your fangirls in case you wanted to read them-" in regards to that, Lucifer sighed and slowly pushed the papers into the bin. You tried to hold back your laughter.
"Some of those young girls should use their poetry skills elsewhere." Was all he said, somehow being nearly done with the half of his pile, whilst you still had 1/4 to do. However, soon you noticed a pattern: these last few papers were all written by the same individual... the girl from the bench, it seemed.
To summarise her bickering, she was stating yet another confession, whilst personally insulting you. The words, "bitch", "slag" and "slut" were mentioned, along with the phrase, "you can do better" said to Lucifer.
He must have noticed you try not to wince in embarrassment and slight rage at your name being mocked, for he grabbed the piece of paper from your hand, and quickly read it.
"Is this-?"
"Yeah. That same girl. I mean, it's great to know her opinion of me. She really tried to fight with words, huh?" You said, looking unaffected whilst throwing away the rest of her meaningless complaints, all continuations of each other-more insults and more interesting metaphors and comparisons-saying you looked like a manipulative 'bitch' and that you didn't 'deserve any love'. You regretted taking half of the pile now, although you managed to hide it well.
You didn't even realise Lucifer had been looking for your reaction to all of... this, whilst you were doing your best not to tear the paper to shreds.
"I'm glad you're unaffected by the girl. If you even listened to an ounce of the nonsense she spewed, I wouldn't stand it." He said, throwing the piece of paper into the pile of waste she had caused through her poetry outburst.
You smiled meekly so as to show some reaction, but in reality-damn-you really wanted to punch that bitch. Perhaps that poison spell Solomon had taught you would finally come in use. Lucifer had definitely picked up on your sudden hatred, for he moved closer to you and took one of your hands.
His gloveless hands caused you to snap back to reality-and before you could reassure him that you were fine, he kissed your hand whilst looking in your eyes. You could practically feel the heat coming into your face.
"I said don't listen to her. You are deserving of love, and it's not a matter of whether you 'deserve' my love specifically. It's whether I deserve the chance and opportunity to love you every day. This is my issue also-knowing I may never deserve your love." He said, whilst pecking your hand with kisses, slowly moving up across your arm before reaching your neck, resting his face on your shoulder for a while whilst talking. It was a good thing you were sitting down, since your knees likely would have given way by now: his way with words was... unordinary.
"Lucifer-I-... thank you. It wasn't so that I was affected by her- so to speak, but more so that I don't know if I'd be able to hold myself back from cursing her if I ever saw her again. Pft." He chuckled, his breath warm against your neck as he leaned on you, and his voice slightly hoarse from not having spoken for these past few hours.
"To be honest-I likely won't be able to control my fist from spiralling if I ever were to see her again. The words she used to describe you... horrendous, as well as a plainly inaccurate description of you." He ranted, clearly tired since his body felt heavy on yours, with no attempt to hold back, although you loved seeing this side of Lucifer. Calm. You leaned back on the sofa, his body on top of yours, whilst he talked and you played with his hair, stroking it gently as he spoke into your neck.
"-I mean, clearly you are like the full moon in the night sky-bright and dazzling, empowering. People look up to you. Other stars don't compare. You're the one thing people are willing to wait for. If they miss the full moon, in all her glory, kindness and her grace, they are willing to stay up, looking at a blank canvas of a night sky, filled with splatters of white stars, but the focus is not yet there. The stage is left blank. You bless people in your presence, in all modesty in beauty. You're all I wish to see in not only the night, but I too pray to see you in my waking days." He murmured, speaking poetry out of thin air and causing you to tear up. How was he so talented...?
"Or maybe you're like a dandelion. Cute and bright-mm..." He said, continuing to rant and mumble.
Okay, so, scrap the talented part.
Pft.
"Lucifer. I-You truly are the Morning Star. Although you're my Morning Star, burning as brightly in the day as in the night, and always there, regardless. Although the Devildom does not get this sun, you are always present. Present in my heart. Sun and Moon, always together, tethered by spirit and bound by opposition." You kiss his head. He looks up at you, his eyes burning a hopeful red.
He smiles, a slight smirk on his face. He kisses you, a soft, slow, passionate kiss. It wasn't intense, but rather calm. As you let go, the first thing he says is, "Never knew you were a poet." Before you both laugh and slowly fall asleep, small kisses in between the two of you, until you are left in this position, sound and happy in each others' arms and strong embrace.
You truly realised.
That you loved this man.
