September 26, 2002

The day begins like any other, the sun rising, making way for the dawn. Its rays cast a glowing light through my curtains, promising endless possibilities for me. Possibilities which I wish would involve two more hours or so of sleep.

From my bed I hear the door slowly creak open, and hear a voice say, "Aimon, are you awake yet?", a voice belonging to my roommate London.

"Yes of course I am, though I wish I weren't," I say through the muffled noise of my comforter.

After seeing that I merely shift into a more comfortable position she comes in and opens the blinds, letting the blinding sunlight bleed into  the room.

"If you're not up in the next minute or two I'm purposefully putting salt in your coffee." London says before leaving the room. She may sound harsh in manner but I know she does it for my sake, we've been close friends since we were kids, it's only natural for her to look out for me so much.

Making my way through the hallway I make it to the kitchen where sure enough London hands me a coffee mug that does not taste riddled with salt.

"You know I wonder when you'll actually get your own car instead of mooching off me for rides in the morning.", I say sarcastically.

"I'll stop mooching off you for rides when you stop mooching off me for coffee.", she says back.

"Fair enough." Just before opening the front  door I see Oren, another one of our roommates and London's boyfriend asleep on the couch.

"Working another late night huh?", I say looking back at her.

"Third time this week actually. I keep telling him to take it easy and get some rest but Oren's a stubborn guy," she says with a bit of disappointment coating her tone.

It's a good thing we only live five minutes away from campus, otherwise waking up earlier than this would be a nightmare.

As we walk out towards my car London says, "And by the way, at least try to pay attention in Lit today okay? If you fail the semester again you know your parents would do. That and I'd actually have to start cooking again."

"Good to know I'm the chef I guess." I tell her with a smile. London is one of the only people that knows me outside of persona I put on in public. She's more like a sister in the sense that she understands me without having to explain myself and I understand her just the same.

I start the car and we start heading towards campus, which like I said isn't far.

"Everything okay with you and Oren?" I ask her.

Oren and London have that lovey dovey college sweetheart relationship that you only really see in movies. You know it's genuine though when you see the way they interact with each other when they think no one is looking. Though lately they seem distant I don't push the subject much , I know it would only make her uncomfortable.

"We're okay actually. What I'd really like to know is how it went on your date last night with um, what's her name.. Angelita! She seemed like a sweet enough girl when I set you guys up last week."

"Well obviously it didn't go well." That was a severe understatement. The girl decided to order one too many drinks, start rambling about her ex and proceed to put him on the phone with me so that she can brag about how she found someone better.

"Oh come on, it couldn't have been that bad. She seemed nice," she retorts trying to stifle a smile.

"You always know how to set me up with the unstable ones London."
