10:46 amThe hardest part about going back to the apartment last night surprisingly wasn't getting London inside half asleep, it was what kept breaking through the walls of my mind even while I lie awake. I couldn't sleep, I only ended up finally closing my eyes hours later, when I couldn't keep them open any longer.
The next day I was the first one awake, I couldn't lie in my bed even if I wanted to. I looked through the kitchen, running through what recipes I could make in my mind with the little ingredients I had available. It was better to do that than be stuck within the confines of my mind and do nothing al, morning. Eventually I decided on the simplest thing I could make: bacon and eggs. While finishing up the bacon I hear London shuffle out her room and plop herself into one of the chairs at the table just beside the kitchen.
"Jesus my head is killing me," she says aloud.
"Good morning to you too," I tell her from my place in the kitchen.
Mere moments later I place a plate of boiled eggs, bacon and toast on the table in front of her, a cup of orange juice and some aspirin on the side already waiting for her.
"Thank you," she says without looking up at me and drinks the aspirin.
I go back to the kitchen while she eats and serve myself a plate before sitting down across the table from her. While I start to eat I look up to see her looking at me with a questionable look on her face,
"What is it?", I ask her.
"What it just my drunken state of mind last night or were you asleep next to Morana upstairs in her room?", London asks me without a second thought.
I slightly choke on my food the second I hear her question, and try to pull myself together by drinking some orange juice, not that she notices.
"I think you were just drunk," I tell her.
She shrugs and doesn't press the subject again, deciding instead to continue eating her food.
After 15 minutes of some small talk on other irrelevant topics Oren comes in through the front door, I hadn't even noticed until right then and there that he wasn't here when we came home last night.
"Hey, where have you been?", London says to him while getting up from her chair.
"Work," he replies plainly, barely even looking at her. He takes off his coat and hangs it by the door while London leans against it looking at him.
"Want me to serve you some breakfast? Aimon cooked just before you got here," she asks him.
"No I'm alright, I'm just tired and I wanna take a shower," he answers, still not looking at her.
"You didn't tell me you were gonna pick up another shift last night, I feel like I've barely seen you this week," she tells him.
"I know, I'm sorry, they let me know last minute and it was good overtime pay, I'll let you know next time okay?", he says, giving her a kiss on the cheek, successfully reassuring her.
"Okay," she tells him. He walks away into the room he shares with Winston and shuts the door, his back facing London as he walks away.
