It's been days since I even made a glance towards the direction of the material I'm supposed to know by heart now. To its core it's uninteresting really, and even if it were interesting, I'd still rather do literally anything else.

I walk out of my room towards the kitchen to pour myself a cup of coffee and see Winston out in the living room tuning his guitar. He's more like me in the sense that he doesn't speak much, though I'm probably more social then he is.

"Hey is there anymore of London's coffee left?", I ask him.

"There should be, I only poured myself half a mug," he says as he studies my appearance for a moment, I can feel him pitying me. My disheveled disposition, unruly hair, and dark eye bags don't leave much to the imagination as to what's going on inside my mind.

"Are you doing okay Aimon?", he says still looking at me.

"I'm fine Winston, I'll be better after this cup of coffee." I know that the way I look at times can be concerning to my roommates but they should know that under all of this that I'll be fine..

I'll be fine.

"You still going to that study group thing London's hosting here?", Winston asks me. And as if on cue London opens the door with bags of food in her hands, barely able to juggle it all but still being able to open the door.

"Crap I completely forgot about that, I told my boss I'd pick up another shift at work just last night," I say while helping London with the bags. In all honesty I said yes to Morana's invitation because I didn't know how to say no to her when she asked. But while I thought it over in the days after it quickly became more and more something I didn't want to do.

"Uh uh, there is no way you're bailing on me tonight. You already told Morana you'd go and it's right here in the same apartment you live in so you're gonna have to call out or something because you are not bailing," London says while looking right at me.

I look at Winston and he quickly goes back to tuning his guitar, to avoid having agree with either one of us. "Who else is coming over tonight?", I ask London while she takes everything out of the bags.

"Oh well Winston will already be here and Dabria's finally coming back from that modeling camp in Europe. Other than that it'll be Morana, you, and a couple of our other mutual friends that take the class too," she says finally. "It'll be good for you to meet them Aimon. You could open up a bit more. Your roommates aren't the only people in the world."

What she says sticks with me a bit. I know they're not the only people in the world, they're just the easiest ones for me to talk to.

Walking back into my room I'm finally met with what a mess it's become. My unmade bed, the focal point of my bedroom, with quite a mess surrounding it made up of clothes, books, and other things I don't wish to name. I know people probably won't come in here, but it'll be good to clean it up for my own sake. I start with the clothes, put the books in their shelves and make my bed for once. When I hear a creak in the doorway as i'm just about finished I turn and see London leaning on the door looking around the now clean room, as if in shock.

"Wow all this because some girl you met a couple days ago invited you to a study group?", she says sarcastically.

"No London this is not because of your friend. It needed to be cleaned up, just in case anyone opened the wrong door and ended up in here," I tell her.

"Right well the study groups not for a couple hours so you can wait around here or help me set up some snacks for everyone if you want. But for the love of God. Don't. Bail." she says with a serious tone.

"I won't London I swear." I can tell how much she wants me to go and interact with people outside my circle so I don't lie when I say that. After she leaves and I opt to take a book off my shelf and read it in the mean time.

6:30 pm

I lose myself in the book I'm reading and don't realize what time it is at all till I get a knock at the door, that I assume is London. I look at the time and quickly say, "Crap sorry London I'll be out in a second," while I put some shoes on and grab a textbook. In the corner of my eye I see the door open and say, "I swear London I wasn't going to bail I just got distracted and-" I look towards the door and realize it's not London standing in the door way but Morana, the girl she introduced me to on Monday.

"Sorry to interrupt but London sent me to come get you and let you know we're gonna start in a bit," she says. Even now that she's standing in the doorway of my room, she seems confident, sure of herself, I admire that about her.

"Right, I'll be out in a second but you can come in if you like." She takes my word for it and walks into the room, looking around and taking it all in. She looks towards the bed and sees the half-finished book I was reading mere moments before she had opened the door.

"The Secret History huh?" She says while picking up the book.

"Yeah I was rereading it while I waited," I said while tying my shoelaces.

"What do you like about it so much that made you reread it? I'm always looking for book recommendations so it'd be good to know if this is a good one to pick up or not," she responds.

"I suppose it's just the fact that it's unlike any book I've read before. I keep trying to find other books like it and it always ends up being a futile search. The Secret History is the book I always end up coming back to you know? I could probably read it a thousand times and still find it interesting." While I speak I can tell she's attentive and is genuinely interested in my opinion.

"Well if it's that good then I should definitely read it." she says mere inches away from me.

"Actually," I get up from beside her and pick up the book before handing it to her, "you can borrow my copy if you want. It's old and got some parts that I've underlined, but if that doesn't bother you, you could borrow it."

She looks over the book, now in her hands and feels the grooves in its spine and the creases in its pages before trying to hand it back to me and saying, "Oh no if you're still reading it then I couldn't."

"It's okay I already know how it ends, it wouldn't make any difference reading it again now," I say with a smile.

With the book in her hands she says, "Thank you for the recommendation, and the book. See you out there." She walks back out through the door and to the living room towards everyone else. For a moment I think and decide to get up and follow her out to everyone else.
