Please Don't be Afraid (Anne x Neko! Reader)

(Anne's POV)

I was walking through the forest alone just for a little morning walk. It was a nice morning and I couldn't get back to sleep so I just decided to take a walk.

Suddenly I hear resulting in the threes above my head. I looked up into the trees but I don't see anything. So I continued walking. Then I heard it again and then took out my tennis racket and held it defensively in front of me. As I continued walking I kept looking up at the trees because I kept hearing noise coming from above.

After about 10 minutes of this, I finally freeze and look up. "Look I know something is up there can you please just come out or leave me alone!" I shouted but I still didn't see anything move. I continued walking but when I heard the result again I'd finally had enough when I looked up I finally saw the movement. I stupidly throw a rock at whatever was up there.

Whatever is up there got hit by the rock and fell behind the tree that they were up in. I held my tennis racket and held it in front of me as I approached the creature? I honestly don't know because I've only seen a silhouette in the dark treetops.

When I finally went around the three I saw a human-like creature with animal ears and a tail. They had a hand on their head but then they noticed me looking at them they scurried away but ended up baking into a tree and falling over.

"I'm sorry for following you, you just seemed so interesting" they put their hands up defensively. "please don't hurt me"

I put my tennis racket away and got down to their level. "I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you" I looked at them as their ears were pressed against their head and their tail wrapped around them. "Is your head okay, I'm sorry for throwing a rock at you"

"It's okay" their voice was really quiet bearly above a whisper.

"What are you doing out in the woods on your own?"

"I could ask you the same question"

"I'm on a walk, you?"

"I live out here"

"You dont have a home?" I asked as they lowered their head.

"No, as long as I can remember I've been out here on my own"

I stood up, and held my hand out for them, "Come on let's see if you can stay with me" they just stared at my hand. "It's okay, you don't have to be afraid. I'm Anne by the way"

They slowly grabbed my hand and I pulled them up. "I'm (Y/n)"

After a while of walking, we finally made it back to the Planter's house. We walk inside and (Y/n) stays hidden behind me.

"Hey guys I'm back, and we have a guest" after about 30 seconds Hop Pop, Polly, and Sprig came into the living room.

(Y/n) hid further behind me as Sprig approached us. "You're so cool, I'm Sprig, a friend of Anne is a friend of mine" Sprig held out his hand to shake and (Y/n) looked at me as if to ask if it was okay.

I nod and they shake Sprig's hand, and Sprig smiles. "Hey Hop Pop is it okay if they stay with me in the basement"

He looked skeptical, "I don't know Anne, they could be dangerous"

"Come on HP, they are scared out of their mind and have been living in the forest. It's more dangerous from them than it is for us"

Hop Pop thought for a moment. "Fine Anne, but they are your responsibility okay?"

"Of course Hop Pop?" I looked at (Y/n) who had hit behind me again. "Come on, let's go to my room" I lead them to the basement and I sit on my bed while they just stand awkwardly. "You can sit on the bed if you want"

They make their way to sit next to me. "Thank you, for everything"

"Aww it's nothing just happy to help"

"I mean it thank you for giving me a home and not running away when you saw me" they brought their legs up on the bed and hugged them to their chest.

"It's alright I know what it's like for people to run away just cause you are different. Heck everyone in this town besides Sprig ran away but in time they got to know me, they'll get to know you too if you're up for something like that"

"Maybe I don't know if I'm ready to meet an entire town"

"It's okay (Y/n), one step at a time"Just then (Y/n) yawned, "You tired, it's barely afternoon?"

"I didn't ever get much sleep when I was living in the forest, you had to be on alert at all times"

"You want to take a nap it's okay you can use the bed" I started to get up when I felt (Y/n) grab my hand.

"Wait can you stay please?"

I shrugged, I didn't have anything to do today so why not. "Sure" I sat back down on the bed and surprisingly (Y/n) laid their head on my shoulder.

After a few minutes (Y/n) fell asleep. I gently moved them to my lap and moved them to a more comfortable position for the both of us.

After a few minutes, I heard the basement door open. Sprig came down and sat on the bed next to me.

"Hey Anne, glad to see (Y/n) settled in alright"

"Yeah me too, it must have been scary living in the forest all on their own for that long"

"Well they must feel safe with you" he gestured to the sleeping (Y/n) with their head on my lap.

"I guess your right Sprig, I'm glad they feel safe here"

"Anyway, I wanted to come and ask you if (Y/n) would be joining our adventures?"

"If they're up for it, you know it"
