POV: Keefe                                      Word Count

Context: It is in Lumenaria and Sophie was in the building when it crashed.

I was laying in a cave when something crashed. I ran outside and the castle was literal rubble. It was a pile of rocks on the ground, and from what I could tell, everyone was still in it. Foster was still in it.

I ran to the castle as fast as my legs would carry me, channelling into my legs. If she was maimed then the world was over. Over. I wasn't exaggerating.

As the rubble got closer, I started to search for her. I needed to find her. When I saw some blood on a body, I prayed it wasn't her. If it was, what would I do?

I heard a groan and knew it was  Foster. I somehow managed to run faster.

" Soph," I called. She only grunted in return.

I got to her and her eyes were closed, but she was breathing. That was enough.

" Are you okay?" I didn't know how conscious she was, but I had to try.

I'm doing okay, she transmitted to me, Can I read your thoughts?

" Yes, you can read my thoughts. When you are in life-threatening danger you don't need to ask permission to read my mind."

Bold for Keefe, Italics for Sophie.

Noted.

What happened?

Something went wrong, so I was going to find Oralie, and Edaline was out of the room. I ran into Mr. Forkle, and he said that he would find Edaline and left me with the survivors, but I ran back in anyway. The building collapsed and I was in it. I don't know if Forkle or Edaline are still alive, do you?

I... No. But you need to get to Elwin.

I know. You're going to have to carry me, though.

I don't care, Foster. Just let me help you. I moved so I was beside her, about to move my arms to pick her up.

Fine. I thought it was adorable how she could never just accept help.

She gave in as one of my arms was under her knee, and the other was on her back. She leaned her head into my chest and closed her eyes. It felt too peaceful in then for its own good. Then was when I realized that if I didn't do it now, it wouldn't happen. I started walking to the survivors.

" Soph?"

Keefe.

I... need to tell you something.

Okay. Good thing her eyes were closed, or she would have seen the nervousness plain as day on my face.

Could you look me in the eyes for a minute? When she did, she looked scared. Like she expected betrayal.

Fo-Soph, I... I love you.  And I leaned down to kiss her. I held her close. We stayed like that for as long as we could, but then she went limp in my arms.
