When We Meet Again

"Go to hell!!!" I yelled as I charged at him. He looks at me with anger as my fist flies at his face. My tears turned from sadness to anger and his face dicinerate at my fist, looking at me with shock in his eyes. That night it thundered and rain fell, as to wash all the bad things away. From that day on, my mom and I moved far away and she never let me go out unless I was fully covered from head to toe.

6 years went by fast and I was still all covered up from head to toe. The other kids thought I was some kind of freak or something, never seeing how I looked underneath, nobody liked to be around me. I heard other kids wonder about how I look under my covers. They always make fun of me during summer, but at least I was not called names anymore.

"Is he not hot under all that?" They'd say to each other "it's over 90 degrees out"

When it gets hot I would have a fan inside my cocoon. It's not much but it helps me keep cool during hot times. I was always sleeping in class, because the teacher couldn't see my face, but also because I was bored in class. Having no friends, I have a lot of time on my hands to study ahead. A 10th grade student like me could graduate 12th grade, but I am too lazy to do that. Another part of me felt like I was waiting for something or someone, but I couldn't remember. One day while I was studying after school, Kento, the 7th, was on my book while I was reading. Then all of a sudden I heard a girl screaming and a dog barking. I put my book down and rushed to the noise and I saw a girl cornered by 3 boys and their dog in a stairway. This seems familiar, but from where, I can't remember. I jumped from the top of the stairs and landed in front of them.

"Please stop," I said in a soft tone, not trying to get angry.

"Oooh look it's the shy boy", said one of the boys laughing.

"Hehe let's see how he likes our dog", said the boy holding the leash chuckling.

He let go of the leash and the dog ran towards me. The dog opens its mouth and bites onto my right arm, but then he ripped my sleeve and glove off.

"Oh are we going to get a face review?" Said the other boy laughing.

The dog came in for another bite. I let him have my other arm. One of the boys ran up to me to take my mask off. He pulled it off revealing my face to him, then he felt a punch to the stomach and he fainted. Before anyone else could see my face I picked up my mask with my right hand and covered my face. The dog rips off my other sleeve and I had to hold my mask on my face. They let their dog come at me again, then I turned and saw the girl. She was crying, hands over her face. I looked at the dog and remembered about the dog and wolf in the woods, my dad. With one hand, I raised it up and breathed, not wanting to hurt the dog. He stopped right before he got to me. It sniffed my hand and licked it, as if to pay respect. It was like it knew that if he made me mad he would have died. It lowered its head and I took off its leash. It turns and growls at the other boys, making sure they can't move a single step. I turned around, tied my mask in place with the extra rope I have in my pocket, walked over to the girl and picked her up then walked to my empty classroom. From the classroom, you could hear the sound of the dog chasing the boys and they ran crying.

I put the girl on a chair as I walked over to my backpack. I took off my jacket and put on a new one. Turned around and took my mask off then fixed it up and put it back on. I was always carrying extra stuff in case things like this happen, even though this was the first time.

She stopped crying and was sniffing, wiping her tears away. "Thanks," she said with a raspy voice. Her voice seems almost recognizable, but I couldn't tell.

I turned and looked at her. Her crying face, I feel like I have seen her somewhere before, but I'm not sure. "Who are you?" I said to her.

"My name is Ilya, Tsushina", she says sniffling and rubbing her eyes, "this is my first day at this school."

"Hum... Ilya have I met you before?" I said to her.

"Could I see your face?" She said looking at me with her head tilted.

I picked up my book and continued my studies, "I'm sorry, I can't do that".

"Okay," she looks around the room "um... could you help me figure my way around, I just moved here and don't know which way to go."

I took out my watch, 5:30 pm. I guess I should be heading home too.

"Sure where do you live?" I said to her.

She takes out a piece of paper and writes down her address then hands it to me. She was moving next door to me, what a coincidence.

"I guess you are my new neighbor" I said as I got up and packed my stuff and put Kento on my shoulder. "Come along now" I said as I started walking out.

She followed me like a lost kitty, a strange feeling. I walked to my house and opened my gate and walked in, not caring about her.

As I walk to my door steps, she shouts to me, "thanks for the help!" then she runs home.

I walk up the stairs thinking to myself what a funny girl. I walked into my room and I saw her out of my window. She was living in a room on the side of the house like me, our windows were aligned. She looks at me, smiles then waves at me. I walked over to my window, closed it then proceeded to take off my cocoon. I went to the kitchen and started cooking as my mom came from work. Surprisingly my mom never had to sell her body to pay for the house, she worked for a big bank company and made just enough to keep paying for the house.
