☀ Day at the Park

The next day

Jake wakes up naturally and just lays in bed grasping that he's hanging out with Devon. He smiles and goes to pick out an outfit for the day. He decides to wear his favorite blue flannel and a pair of pants he just found in his drawer. After he picks out his outfit he goes to take a shower to just pass time until it's time for the hangout. After he gets out of the shower and puts on his outfit, and his lucky "repent" creepy doll necklace. He checks the time on the phone to see 1:30. He still has an hour and 50 minutes before he leaves since the park is close to his house. He went to eat breakfast even though it was almost two in the afternoon and decided to listen to Devon's podcast until it was time.

Later that day

It was time to go to the park so Jake started biking his way over there. As he was biking he was taking in the thought that he was actually going to hang out with Devon ALONE. He almost fell off his bike just thinking about it. As he arrived he saw Devon already there. Jake couldn't help but smile.

"Hey Jake!" Devon said

"Hi Devon, how are you?" Jake said

"I'm good, way better now that your here"

Jake's face lit up with a huge smile, he couldn't help but giggle.

"So where to first?" Devon said

"Maybe we should go to the swings," Jake answered

"Yeah, that sounds fun!" Devon said excitedly

Both Devon and Jake made their way to the swings. They both got on and started swinging high up in the air having a contest of who could go higher. Laughing the whole time they determined that Devon won but Jake was super close to beating him. They started slowing down and just talked about things they were interested in. Of course, Devon made sure to mention crime and Jake mentioned his sculptures. Devon even tried to convince Jake to listen to his crime podcast "Hackenslasher," but he didn't realize that Jake was already a huge fan.

"Wanna walk around the park and even go by the Lake?" Devon asked Jake

"Oh um sure!" Jake said making his way off the swings

(Jake pov)

I still can't believe Devon is actually hanging out with me, he's even trying to flirt with me. Maybe he does like me? Or maybe that's just how he is. I don't know.

As we start walking I hear Devon ask, "if you could go anywhere, where would it be?"

"Honestly, I'd love to go anywhere as long as I get to leave Hackensack. I've been here my whole life so a chance to experience and see new things would be really nice. I only really have one reason that's keeping me here in Hackensack." I explained

"That's actually really cool, what's keeping you here in Hackensack?" He asked seeming really curious.

"I wish I could tell you, but not just yet." I teased

"Aww man, I guess I'll figure it out someday," He said sorta disappointed

As we got to the Lake, we sat on a bench and just took in the view. The lake had looked so beautiful, and so did Devon. This is the happiest I've been in a while. I wish this day would last forever.

(Devon Pov)

Jake and I were just sitting on the bench quietly. We could enjoy each other's company without talking and I enjoyed that. It wasn't awkward or anything, it was perfect. We both noticed it was starting to get late and I didn't wanna leave Jake just yet so I decided to ask him if he wanted to go to my house.

"Hey Jake, it's starting to get late, wanna go to my house for a bit? My mom has work so she won't get home until late." I asked

"Yeah, of course, I'm sure Bree and Lucas won't mind, I'll call them and let them know I'm coming home later" He responded

"Okay! Let's go get our bikes on the way!" I said

"Okk" he said

We started riding our bikes to my house, and of course, I was leading the way. We didn't talk much on the way but somehow it was really fun.
