Robert was shocked to see Preston back at school after a week. Though what was most shocking was how he seemed to be back to his innocent self. It annoyed him that his friend didn't question his long sleeves and pants in such hot weather. Robert was in the library pretending to read something about science. Reston was sitting across from him seemingly very interested in his own book.
"You can drop the act Preston." Preston looked up from his book with a confused look on his face. He must have been thinking because before Robert could say why he said that Preston bit his lip nervously looking down at his lap.
"What act?" His voice seemed to be darker and it almost scared Robert. Almost.
"The one you were just putting on." Robert challenged. Preston looked up his eyes were narrowed and his facial expression told Robert he wanted to beat him up.
"It's not an act." Preston hissed. He looked really annoyed. Robert wasn't sure what he did. He knew he was an asshat everyone practically knew that.
"Oh?" Robert raised an eyebrow knowingly.
"No. I'm not Preston." Robert rolled his eyes at the claim.
"Prove it."
"How much time you got?"
Robert shrugged. He sure as hell wasn't going to class."Well. I don't really know how or when this bullshit started but it did and now I guess I'm connected to Preston in a way. Like a spiritual rope keeps up together." Robert scoffed wanting the other Preston back.
"Can I go on?"
"Go ahead oh mighty spirit."
"Shut up. Well let's just say I'm Preston's older brother. I was murdered by someone...doing a job. My mom always told me through old floorboards I was too old and I couldn't possibly be her child. My dad didn't like it when she was like that. Like a monster. It made it too hard to fuck her." Preston stopped and look at Robert who just nodded motioning for him to go on.
"Preston was just born 3 hours after I died. I remember a long time in the dark. I was dead. Then I was given the chance to save my baby brother from that same tragedy. I would have much rather stayed dead-""So where is Preston and can I get a name?" Preston or his brother glared at him for the interruption.
"Preston's soul thingy is attached to this body by the said rope I'm constantly on. Call me Daka." (A/N: okay! I have total respect for Daka's time in service and I in no means intend this to be an offensive remark! His character has this personality is for the plot and not from personal opinion! Along with other abusive and offensive things people might not have taken lightly, and for that I'm sorry.)
Robert nodded not wanting to listen to Daka talk like he's some hero."Okay great tell me more late and let Preston back." Robert said staring down at Daka.
(A/N: again I'm sure most of the people in this who act like assholes are wonderful people and I am not one to judge or hate someone I don't know personally. I fully respect everyone of the people mentioned in this story. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I know it's short but only because wattpad deleted the original which was I like to think pretty good. Bye for now.)
