" Best Friends"

Chapter 6

“ no Riki i can't be your boyfriend because I- I have a girlfriend I asked Unmyeong to be my girlfriend before i came home “

Riki’s heart dropped to his stomach and the smile fell from his face.

It's funny how you can be filled with hope and happiness but in a split second someone or something could change that.

Falling in love is something beautiful and even life changing but it can also cause a lot of damage, sometimes damage that can't be fixed.

Riki was standing in front of the love of his life who also happens to be his best friend. The flowers Riki had bought are now on the floor. He is speechless and his heart isn't feeling anything but pain. His world has stopped. Jungwon was the cause of his happiness but now is the cause of his pain.

None of them have spoken or moved from their place. Jungwon felt so much pain and regret. He doesn't want to move because what if Riki leaves if he does? Jungwon shouldn't have asked Unmyeong to be his girlfriend , he shouldn't even have gone to see her. Jungwon becomes weak when he's around her but he just realized Riki also makes him weak.

Knowing that just standing in the painful silence wasn't going to help Jungwon went to hold Riki but he backed away from Jungwon. Riki never backed away from him , this both surprised and hurt Jungwon.

Jungwon tried once again to get near Riki but failed as he moved further away from him. " J-jungwon, I think I should leave," Riki said with teary eyes. Jungwon couldn't think of anything else but to block the door.

Jungwon stood in front of the door and Riki just looked at him with pain and hurt in his eyes. Jungwon felt horrible knowing he caused this and wasn't going to let him leave until he fixed his mistake.

" Jungwon, please move from the door," Riki whispered But loud enough for Jungwon to hear. " No , not until we talk," Jungwon told him without moving an inch.

Riki let out a sigh and sat down on the couch " if talking means I could leave then let's talk" Jungwon was a little happy that he let him talk but nervous. Jungwon was going to sit next to Riki but decided against it. He didn't want to make Riki more uncomfortable.

Once Jungwon got comfortable he tried to look Riki in the eyes but he had his head down. Jungwon didn’t know what he was going to say but he hoped it would fix things a little. “ you know the funny thing is that i originally wasn't going to ask Unmyeong to be my girlfriend but i panicked and asked her'' Riki still didn't look up so Jungwon continued “ i realized i had feeling for you riki but was confused because i didn’t know if they were real or not i just kept thinking about you kissing someone who isn't me and that made me-”
“ what?’’
“ what?”
“ When did I ever kiss someone? “
“ what are you talking about i saw you kissing someone”
“Jungwon i have saved my first kiss for you , i have never kissed anyone“
“oh…” jungwon was now red from embarrassment. Now while Riki was trying to make eye contact jungwon buried his face in his hands. 

Riki was now sitting next to Jungwon. He put his arms around him and held him tight , held tight and not wanting to let go just in case he disappeared. “ Jungwon, why didn’t you tell me? You could have asked me, you know” Riki whispered in his ear. The boys haven’t said anything else, they were just enjoying the silence and the hug. Jungwon unknowingly fell to sleep and riki carried him to his bed.

After placing and tucking him in, Riki just stayed and took in Junwong’s beauty. Riki couldn’t believe his childhood friend also liked him back , putting aside that he asked out a girl out of confusion Riki was still happy to know Jungwon’s feelings. Riki got close and placed a kiss on his forehead “ I'll always love you” he whispered then left.

I’ll always love you even if I'm miles apart,even if you belong to someone else.
