Lillian's POVWe'd been driving for about half an hour.My curiosity was killing me since I was blindfolded and had no clue where we were going. The road had been slightly bumpy but now it turned even bumpier so I assumed we were getting close. We drove for another 5 minutes then came to a stop.
"Can I take my blindfold off now?"I asked."No not yet.Ok so the terrain is going to be sloped so you'll have to hold on to my hand.Okay?"his voice rumbled to my left.I shook my head yes.His large warm hand slipped into my small cold one.
He led me down curving slopes, his hand grasping mine firmly. We walked across the rocky surface and I struggled not to fall which i of corse failed at.I prepared myself for the pain I would feel from scraping my hands on the rocks. The pain never came though because Gaige caught me."Thanks"I said as Gaige placed me upright."Your welcome"He said grabbing my hand again.
"Gaige wait. Can I please take the blindfold off now?"I said stopping in my tracks."No, not yet we're almost there anyways" he said after a minute of silence.I groaned and he laughed."Jerk" I murmured underneath my breath. He must of heard me because he responded with "bitch".I smiled to I myself at his reference.
We came to a halt.I heard water running, leaves blowing in the wind, and birds chirping."We're here" Gaige's voice said behind me.A moment later he removed the blind fold and I gasped.
We were in some sort of cave though sunlight poured through cracks in the roof of the cave. The water had a slight green tint to it.On one side of the cave was a small water fall.Around it tall mossy trees stood, the branches growing through the roof. There was sand in some places and huge boulders in others.
"This place it's so beautiful. How did you find it?"I said gazing around in wonder."I ran through the woods a lot when I was younger. One day I was running around when I fell the through the roof of this place" Gaige said sticking his hands in his pockets while walking towards a boulder.
I felt awkward standing there so I followed him.He leapt up onto the massive boulder with ease while I struggled to jump on.Gaige reached down and pulled me up into his strong arms."Uh..Thanks" I said blushing."Er..no problem"Gaige said releasing me from his grip.We both sat down on the boulder.I looked at our surroundings.I kept seeing Gaige in the corner of my eye staring at me."Er..so you ran through the woods a lot when you were little. What were you nature boy or something."I joked trying to ease the tension.
"Haha..no I wasn't nature boy,"he laughed"my family they uh had a summer home around here.I used to beg them to take me out there. The would but-er- my parents they uh fought a lot.So I'd just run out in the woods for..hours and hours until I knew they had stopped fighting. My mom she would worry and come looking for me.By that time though I had come close to the house so she wouldn't have to look far"Gaige stared in a trance at the water.
"My parents they were going to get a divorce but then my mom she...Uh..she died.Turns out she had a brain tumor. We didn't know until it was too late. After mom died my dad he um he changed. He started drinking and of corse because of that couldn't hold onto his job.We lost everything.I had to find what work I could. It wasn't easy not a lot of people want a 12 year old working for them. Some how I found work though. They were small jobs and we managed to get on by some miracle.Dad he didn't work anymore just sat around all day drinking."Gaige said his voice dark and bitter.
I just sat there listening to him."Then...then he started getting violent. That did it.I'd had enough so I ran away.Lived on the streets for awhile hiding from my dad, who surprisingly was looking for me.Guess he was missing his free alcohol money the lazy ass.I managed to avoids the police.I lived each day stealing from people but then one day was different. That day I met you.
