"Gemma?" I heard a voice say, after we finished our rehearsals and were clearing our stuff out of the way for Hanson to start their soundcheck. "Is that really you?"
I turned around and saw Hanson standing there. They had just finished doing the Walk and had watched the last bit where Drake and I rehearsed the song again. I saw they had their wives and children with them. I smiled. They all had such adorable families. Zac's wife in particular looked familiar and I realized she was the one who had asked if it was me. It suddenly dawned on me who she was.
"Becky?" I asked, hopping off the stage and coming closer to them. "Oh my God it is you!"
"I haven't seen you since high school girl!" she cried, and hugged me.
"Wait?" Zac asked. "You two know each other?"
Becky nodded. "You know I grew up in Pennsylvania."
"Well yeah," he laughed. "But Pennsylvania is a big state. Like I knew that you would randomly know this girl Drake hooked up with."
"Hooked up with?" she asked me curiously, looking over at Drake who was still on stage, texting on his phone. "Are you two an item?"
"He means on stage," I said, laughing. "But I guess you could say we're seeing each other."
"Well I'm so happy you are finally doing something with that voice of yours!" she said. "I knew it was you before I even saw your face. I could tell just by your voice."
I laughed, "Well it's all Drake's pushing. If it wasn't for him, I'd still be in the truck stop in Pittsburgh."
"Like I had to push that hard," Drake said, joining us finally. "She just took one look at me and she knew she was coming with."
I laughed, "Yeah whatever."
"It's good to see you again, Becky," Drake said, kissing her on the cheek. He followed suit with Natalie, Taylor's wife; and Nikki, Isaac's wife. And everyone was introduced to me.
"So you married Zac Hanson huh?" I asked Becky.
She laughed, "I told you I was going to."
"You certainly did," I said, laughing. "Who would've thought at 14 it would've actually came true?"
"Right," she said. "And we have three kids."
She pointed to three of the ten kids running around, "Those three are mine and Zac's. Those five are Taylor's. And those two little boys are Ike's."
"You guys are creating your own army or something huh?" I joked.
"You know it!" Zac said. "I'm trying to convince her to have another one."
I laughed.
"Yeah not for a little while Zachary!" she said.
"But we gotta catch up with Tay!" he whined, playfully.
"This is not a competition," she said. "Unless you want to start popping out kids?"
"You know he'd be the one to try it," Natalie joked. She was stunning and I had to admit my 14 year old self was completely jealous of her. Taylor had been my childhood celebrity crush.
"You have to have dinner with us in the dressing room while the guys do soundcheck," Becky said.
"Yes, come join us," Natalie said. "We could use some fresh gossip."
I laughed and agreed.
"You coming Drake?" I asked, looking at him. He was texting on his phone again.
