Part 23

Dadaji mellowed down after hearing that Nandini's parents were no more.

        Dadaji : "Alright.. How is what she is telling, going to make everyone happy?"

        Manik let Nandini calm down and he spoke on behalf of her. He had overheard Nandini convincing her uncle and also consoling Cabir on their journey back home. He also knew of the disgrace Dadaji's family had to face after Dadaji's daughter left home, from Abhi. He combined everything together and conveyed it to Dadaji.

        Manik : "If you give your granddaughter's hand in marriage to her friend, they both will be happy since they like each other. Instead if you get her married her to me, so many lives will get effected, your granddaughter's, her friend's and mine. If none of us are happy, how will our families be happy? If you don't agree and they elope because of that, it would bring disgrace to your family. Wouldn't it be better if you accept their relationship? You won't lose your granddaughter and your granddaughter won't lose her family that way. May not be immediately, but eventually everyone will be happy."

        Manik (to Nandini) : "Do you want to add anything?"

        Manik had said everything that she wanted to say and he had also added about bringing disgrace to the family that she hadn't thought of saying. She had heard from Cabir that his Dadaji likes Manik a lot, so she felt that Dadaji had calmed down and was ready to listen because of Manik, and she didn't want to say anything and upset Dadaji again.

        Dadaji : "I need some time to think. Stay here, I will be back."

        Dadaji was thinking of what had happened with his daughter, he had lost her and he hadn't even come to know about it all these years. Now, his granddaughter was in front of him and she didn't seem to know that he was her grandfather and even he didn't know about her till he met her. He wanted to know more as to what had happened with his daughter. He also remembered the disgrace his family had to face many years back and he didn't want to land in a similar situation again.

Meanwhile,

        Manik (to Nandini) : "Relax, we did what we can."

        Nandini was worried as to what Alya's Dadaji would say.

        Nandini had initiated the talk, but it was Manik who made Dadaji think over it.

        Nandini : "Thanks, if not for you.."

        Manik : "You don't have to thank me. I just said whatever you wanted to say, that's all."

        Dadaji came to a conclusion and returned.

        Dadaji : "I would like to meet your friend and friend's family before coming to any conclusions."

        Dadaji : "I hope you are okay with it Manik since you seem to know about it already and you seem to be supporting her."

        Manik : "Yes Dadaji."

        Nandini : "Thank you so much for considering!"

        After confirming when and where Dadaji wanted to meet, Nandini and Manik were ready to take leave.

        Nandini : "Thank you once again!"

        Manik and Nandini came out of Dadaji's room. Dadaji's family's pet dog came near them and Nandini was scared. Nandini held onto Manik's arms and hid right behind him.

        Nandini : "Save me Manik."

        Manik told the pet dog that she was his friend and she was scared, so the dog didn't come near her.
