Chance Connection

Part 14

Alya told Nandini that she wouldn't be able to understand her stance unless she is in her situation.

        Nandini : "It isn't necessary to be in that situation to understand.."

        Alya : "Please don't try to convince me, it will not be of any use, I am not going to return."

        Nandini wasn't someone who would back out or give up once she had made up her mind to do something.

        Nandini : "I have not been in this situation, but I know someone who was exactly in your situation at one point of time, my parents. They went against their families and got married, and they were happy too for a few years. After a few years, they began to miss their families and they wanted to get in touch with them, but it was too late, and their families didn't accept them. My parents wish of getting back with their families never got fulfilled. I don't want you both to end up in a similar situation as them. At least return home and try convincing your family, if it doesn't work out, you can always return here, can't you?"

        Alya : "Are you saying the truth or are you just trying to convince me?"

        Nandini : "Ask Dhruv if you want to, even he knows about it."

        Alya looked at Dhruv and Dhruv confirmed that whatever Nandini said was true. Alya thought over what Nandini said.

        Alya : "I can give it a try, but I know for sure that nothing is going to change."

        Cabir also thought so, but he was glad that Alya had agreed to go back with him though temporarily. Cabir, Manik and Nandini left from there.

        It was lunchtime, but Cabir who was always the first one to feel hungry didn't bring it up, so Manik did.

        Manik : "Let's have lunch and go to our rooms. We have to book the tickets too."

        They went to the restaurant to have lunch, but Cabir was just playing with food, and same was the case with Nandini.

        Manik : "Cabir, why are you still so upset? You are able to take your cousin with you now as you told your aunt. There is nothing else you can do right now, so stop playing with your food and eat. You can think about the rest later."

        Manik : "You too Nandini. If you continue to worry and not eat, you may fall sick again and you may not be in a position to board the train tomorrow. That's not what you want, isn't it?"

        Cabir : "Alya is returning with us, but what she is saying is true, nothing is going to change. My family is against love marriages and no one is going to support her. What about Dhruv's family Nandini?"

        Nandini : "Uncle and aunty are not against it. In fact they supported my parents whose was a love marriage too."

        Cabir : "Then why are you still upset? .. Oh .. is it because your engagement broke?"

        Nandini : "No, it's not that. I am thinking of uncle and aunt. Our parents had decided to get us married from the time we were kids. It has been their life long dream and now it will be shattered all of a sudden. Also, he is their only son and they had pinned lot of hopes on him, and he left them without thinking about them. I am worried as to how they will take it when they come to know of it?"

        Cabir : "Do you have a hope that they will agree? I don't have any hopes for Alya."

        Nandini : "They will be mad for sure, but I am sure they will agree. It might take some time though. I will have to figure out how to convince them."
