Dren

My hand ticks the pen on the paper.

The argument from this morning rings and clouds my head. Been so long yet it bothers me. She left the room, and I can tell she was pissed. Two fingers rub my temple. Paper after paper, stacks on stacks. I shouldn't have let it get this bad. I shouldn't have distracted myself over such a mere thing. I've delt with bigger shit before. Why was this effecting me so goddamn much? The door creeks open. But I don't look up.

It wasn't her. The smell was more of pinecones and nature not sweet and savory like hers. Fuck me I'm doing it again. I press my fingers deeper into my temple rubbing and rubbing hoping I rub hard enough that the thoughts go away with it. I sigh and lean back into my chair deeper. Signing my signature off in the bottom of the page.

Dren M. Rose

I wish I changed my last name. Years and years I would roll my tongue agents the roof of my mouth in disgust at the sound of it. I wanted to change it, yet I never did. The footsteps began moving towards me. I roll my eyes at the rude intrusion. Only one person has the balls to do that "Why the sigh, Denny" I suck my teeth in at the corny name he never got rid of. Since kids i would badly beat him up for it. Yet he would always come back and say it again. "That disgusting scent you tend to put off." I hear the chair slide agents the marble floor. Cringing at the roughness. I don't dare to look up, yet his body slumps down onto the chair.

"Well, I hope this makes up for your shitty attitude" I hear him take something out his leather jacket. Throwing it on the table a smooth cream file folder slides against all the papers landing right in front of me. I sit straight and my eyes points to him. He grins I grab it opening it up watching as papers slide down.

Leon clears his throat. Folding his arm as if he's done the best thing in the world. "No thank you. No, you're the best beta Leon. I didn't spend months overseas for nothing" He mocked. I flip him off and flip through the paperwork. "Welcome back" He looked the same after months. Brown eyes, slick black dark hair, strong cheekbones and think pink lips. Once I caught the beta from the blue moon pack I had to dig deeper. No one would just walk around clueless on my land just because. I lived in an island for god's sake. He trespassed. I tortured.

I scan and watch as my island pictured drawn on the white sheet. Knowing the shape by heart I knew it was mines. Marks of X's and O's lay around it in red. I pick it up and lean back. "That fucker was planning an ambush" I grit my teeth together. "Was" he butts in. His face becomes all serious now. His eyes sharpen up and his lips turn thin. No more of that Mr. nice guy grin. Not when people, our people were soon to be hurt. "Until you killed him."

My eyes look above the paper. His eyes questioned me. Glared me down as it always been when I use to do dumb shit when we were small. I throw it on the desk and lean more back into my chair. My hand now crossing over my abs. "That's not what matters now. Are they still roaming my land" He shrugs His elbows placed on his knees. "It's a possibility. He wouldn't have just sent his second in command by himself. Especially not after you." He eyed the paper again. Reading the x and red 0's. It was a pain in the ass when I found out the beta of blue moon was roaming around like a lost puppy. I made sure to double the defense, but it makes my blood run hot knowing that I missed more. "I was studying their ambush. It seems off. Something seems off" he taps his finger on his lips. Something he does when he thinks. I question him and spread the papers. "It wouldn't be an ambush if" he points at the blue arrow that was placed on the picture of the bridge. The one that connects us to the land. The only possible way someone can get on my land. He glides his finger on it and taps the tip of the arrow. The area being the house. My house. "What would the arrow mean and why would it be coming here?"
