Chapter 13-

A loud clanging sound from outside the cabin woke Serenity up that morning. Apparently it had woken everyone else up too, because everyone was sitting up and staring out the window.

"What's going on?" Serenity asked, yawning. "What's that sound?"

"I don't know, but it had better stop!" Marissa growled. "I need my beauty sleep!"

"Did you just now start that?" A girl next to Serenity asked cooly. As Serenity looked at her, she saw that she had black hair in a bob haircut, and she looked rather pale, but her pretty brown eyes were staring up at Marissa mockingly.

"Just now start WHAT?!" Marissa snapped, locking her gaze on her.

"Beauty sleep. By the way you look right now, I'd think you've never had any before." the girl replied, smirking.

Many girls around the cabin snickered, including Serenity. She had never seen this girl, but already she had started to like her as Marissa turned away, looking rather murderous.

"What's your name?" Serenity asked the girl over the loud noise and the various chatter that swept over the cabin.

"Gwen. What about you?" she replied, still smirking a bit at her comment to Marissa.

"Serenity," Serenity smiled, brushing her long blonde hair out of her face.

"Cool. Want to team up?" Gwen asked. Serenity was a bit surprised at being asked this question as soon as they had met. For all she knew, Gwen could be the murderer... But something deep down inside her told her she wasn't.

"Sure! Why not?" Serenity agreed, beaming.

Suddenly the door swung open as a boy stomped through the door, making both girls jump. Serenity recognized him as Hunter, a boy that sometimes played video games with Roberto and someone else.

"HEY! You're NOT supposed to be in here!" Marissa exclaimed rudely, but she stopped short at the furious look on Hunter's face. "What? You're not!"

"I don't care! It's, like, 7:00 in the morning! WHAT is that NOISE?!" Hunter shouted.

"We don't know!" a skinny girl with big glasses, who Serenity knew to be named Quint, replied. "If we did, we'd be out there stopping it!"

"Well, I KNOW it's got something to do with Trent," Hunter said furiously. "And I'm putting a stop to it!"

A couple girls gasped. "Why would you even dare?" Violet asked from one of the top bunks. "With the murderer around... How do we know it's not Trent himself?"

"I don't CARE! If it IS that numbskull and I don't come back, at least you'll know, won't you?"

"I'll come with you!" A voice said from the bathroom doorway.

Serenity turned her head quickly to see a girl with flowing red hair all the way down to her lower back. She had freckles dotted across her face and a green backpack slung around her shoulder. She was already dressed, to Serenity's surprise, and everyone else looked surprised that she would even volunteer.

"Uhh... Sure," Hunter stammered, obviously surprised too. "Come on."

But no one had to even step outside to see what the noise was.

In a split second the door was knocked right off its hinges, sending it flying across the room and heading straight toward the red-headed girl... But she only smiled.

She waited a little longer and jumped into the air, landing right on top of the door and splitting it in half. A couple girls gasped, Yolanda clapped, and Hunter looked rather impressed.
