Chapter 19-

Serenity stumbled back as she saw the masked murderer stab the boy twice, and he fell to the ground. The smell of blood hit her without warning, making her shudder with disgust and gag. At the sound of her gagging, the murderer turned around, their eyes locked on hers.

Serenity gasped and began to run. She knew there would be no escape if she just stood there, so she turned and ran as fast as she could, not looking back, and not doing anything else. It was a smart move.

Bursting through the trees and into the safety of the campsite, the murderer never thought to chase her to that point because of its mask. Then she, along with everyone else, would know the truth.   Putting her hands on her knees and doubling over, Serenity struggled to catch her breath. Thoughts were whizzing through her head, and different emotions threatened to capture her in their grasp as she tried to make sense of it all.

Even though she couldn't see the murderer's face, she DID see the murderer's eyes. Who else had emerald green eyes that pierced through your very soul? That did number out some people. She knew a lot of the boys were safe from this factor, and some of the girls were, too. But there were also some people who did have those eyes, and when the survivors returned from the challenge, she was going to narrow it down the best she could.

The only thing that Serenity didn't notice, was that the murderer was peeking out at her from behind a tree, a pair of shiny, red high heels showing from underneath her cloak.

This is it, Serenity thought, her eyes closed. Now is the time. All the remaining campers were sitting around the campfire, the flames leaping up, trying to touch the sky. It saddened Serenity that there were so few left, but it astonished her, too... Because she had made it. Right now, there were only 8 people left.

Apparently, 5 people had died in the challange: Reed, Hunter, Chrissy, Derek, and Wren. It surprised Serenity of how many boys died. Did that mean anything in terms of the murderer? She didn't think so... But she was going to keep it in mind. Anyway, Serenity decided that now was the time to narrow the suspects down.

Opening her eyes cautiously, she glanced around the clearing, looking into everyone else's eyes... She wrote down the data and stood up, telling everyone that she was going to go to bed. Some people's eyes were watery with tears, and some were just plain, as if they either didn't care, or just didn't want to. But as Serenity turned away and started walking to the cabins, someone with emerald green eyes was looking after her with a murderous expression on their face.

Too bad nobody saw.

Serenity stepped into the cabin and quickly shut the door behind her. She didn't feel safe alone anymore, so she was glad to see Gwen sitting on her bed.

"Oh... Hey, Gwen," Serenity said, quickly writing down Gwen's eye color after everyone else's.

"What's up?"

"Nothing much... I just came in here to think," Gwen sighed, her eyes flickering to the piece of paper in Serenity's hand. "What about you? What's that?"

"Data. I saw the murderer today, but they were under a mask. I saw their eyes, though - They were green - So I wrote down everyone's eye color to narrow it down."

"But... But MY eyes are green!" Gwen gasped. "I hope you don't suspect me!"

"No, of course not!" Serenity said. "I'd never suspect my teammate."

After Serenity shared the data with Gwen, she sat on her bed and looked it over.

"Hey, I forgot someone," Serenity thought with surprise. "Hmm..."

After checking it over again, she set the paper down on the dresser beside her bed, laying her head on the pillow and falling asleep. This is the data she collected:

EYE COLOR:

Murderer: Green (Emerald)

Roberto: Brown - NO MATCH

Trevor: Green - MATCH

Eric: Blue - NO MATCH

Violet: Violet - NO MATCH

Olivia: Green - MATCH

Serenity: Blue - NO MATCH

Trent: Green - MATCH

Gwen: Green - MATCH

And although she did forget one person, her main suspect, she didn't notice that Marissa was glaring at her as she was writing down the data, with her mischievously sparkling blue eyes.
