Sins of the Unholy

Chapter 1: Dreams

Karakura town lay below her. The town was bathed in the high moon light, streetlights shined bright within the shadows of the town, giving it an almost ethereal glow. The woman frowned as she sped over the town feeling something rancid on the night's wind. Coming to a halt over a hospital, she looked over the emergency lights and vehicles and frowned.

The buildings of the town seemed to be pulsing, each one doubling and then settling back into the original structure. She frowned as she moved to land on the street and looked around. No one was present, no doctors, no pedestrians, no nurses, no one seemed to be awake. Moving to flash step back into the sky, she watched as the city began to pulse again.

The buildings began to squeal and shake harder, loud roars echoed in the hollowed streets and she wrapped her arms around herself. Turning all around, she watches as trickles of reishi begin to travel from the town up into the sky. The roars begin to echo as the town begins to blink in and out of existence.

Cold winds begin to fill the night air and she watches helplessly as the reishi begins to funnel into one massive being. Pulsing into existence, a large skeleton begins to take shape, it's large hands clutch at the town as it begins to cackle sickly. Her eyes widen as along it's shoulders four hooded figures appear. Each one absorbs the reishi that comes from the town.

Jolting awake, a woman pants as the images of the town ripple over and over in her mind. She pants as she tries to untangle herself from her sleep covers. Pulling tight at her wet sleep yukata, she crawls to the shutter doors, throwing them open.

"Saki, Saki!" She yells as she crawls out into the night air along the porch. It's a stale air that meets her and she feels as if she cannot breath. She rushes along the porch calling out again.

"Saki! Prep a Hell Butterfly!" She yells as a woman with a white sleep yukata meets her. Her short black hair looks to be out of place from the night's rest. Saki helps the woman to stand and begins to take deep exaggerated breaths to calm the yelling woman.

"Calm Juno, calm yourself or you'll drain the compound." Saki cautions as she takes another deep breath, Juno closes her pale brown eyes and tries to do as the aid says. Her long brown hair falls over her face and shoulders as she tries to calm herself. Within, she can feel her own power awaken and claw at what resolve she has.

"We cannot wait, Karakura...the reishi...it's being drained!" Juno shouts as she grips Saki tight. The aid seems to pale under her mistress' words and sighs heavily. Saki watches as Juno shakes and grips her tighter, the fear is real.

"Breath Lady Juno, I'll wake Tsuki, He'll prepare the butterfly." She says slowly as she helps to sit Juno down on the edge of the hallway. The air around seems to chill quickly and Saki glances around the compound.

"Who do we send it to?" Saki asks as she pulls away slightly to watch as a few lights begin to turn on. Sure enough a blonde male with glasses steps out of his own room to join them. He looks over the two women and Saki holds a hand out to him. With a nod, he rushes over to them.

"For now, Captain Hitsugaya, he...he may know something." Juno comments as she closes her eyes trying to calm the rage within her. The parasite is slowly making his way to the surface and he growls at the confinements.

"M'lady, what can I do?" Asks the male as she kneels by Juno and Saki.

"Prep a Hell Butterfly for Squad 10 Tsuki, Karakura town has been seen being drained of Reishi. Lady Juno, what else did you see?" Asks Saki as she places a hand on the males shoulder. Both look at Juno and watch as she pulls her hair back and away from her face.

"The town shook like an echo. No one was around, but the reishi rose to a threat over Karakura." Juno's voice is strained as she grips the cloth just above her thighs. Both aids look to each other and then down to their wrists. Wrapped tightly around each is a gold band intricately designed with snowflakes and vines.

"I'll inform the household to prepare the limiters, Tsuki will send the butterfly to Toshiro. Inform him, we have it covered for now. But it may be time for him to come home for a bit." Comments Saki as she steps away from the two. Tsuki stands as he looks over the lady of the house. She seems frail under the compound lights. Moving back into Juno's room, he grips the hanging yukata cover and brings it back. Placing it gently on her shoulders he steps away.

"I'll contact Captain Hitsugaya now, please try and calm yourself M'lady." He bows quickly before moving off to complete his task.

Juno sighs as the compound around her slowly comes to life. Looking up to the sky, she frowns as she takes in the dark hues slowly turning to light. The sun is barely starting to rise and they all have this to worry about. Pulling her coat closer, she quickly realizes that the coat is too big. The dark blue of the cover softens her features as she thinks of the owner.

"Come home Toshiro, this feels so real...and yet it feels like a dream." She whispers as she buries her nose in the fabric, smelling the fresh scent of wash and his underline snowfall. Within the parasite growls louder and Juno grips the coat tighter.

It's like a fog has entered her mind and everything it touches becomes numb. She stands within this land and narrows her eyes to scan the land. It slithers along her senses and wraps around her legs like a snake on the hunt. The air has stopped flowing and she feels like her lungs are being squeezed too tight.

"I want to feed." It growls into the fog.

"I want to feed." It growls louder as it wraps tighter and tighter around Juno. Taking a deep breath she runs her hands along the fog and lets out the slow and steady breath.

"Calm my fear, please just calm." She begs gently as the fog begins to dissipate and reveal her Zanpakto. The tall blonde stands, his gray eyes glare at her.

"Feed." He growls once more before she's back along the hallway porch. The red rays of the sun color the world around her and she sits and waits for the news to come.
