Chapter 4: A Moment Away

Once the door closes, Toshiro kneels down and pulls the woman before him into a gentle kiss. His hands wander along her cheeks till they cup the back of her neck. Juno hums before he pulls away and looks down upon her face.

"How are you really?" Toshiro asks gently as he moves to finally sit with her. Juno moves closer to curl between his open legs and lean against his chest. She listens to his heart beat for a moment before answering.

"Besides my Zanpaktou, I feel relieved to have you home. I'm sorry for all of this. I know the Head Captain is worried, but you know what I'm dealing with." Juno smiles as his arm wraps around her.

"Does Ichigo know?" She asks as Toshiro uses his free hand to reach over and pull his limiter off. Juno sighs as she sits up and reaches out for her Zanpaktou. She pushes it closer to Hyorinmaru and frowns.

"I haven't said anything. I figured he'd find out later today when we changed our uniforms. Honestly, I was more worried about what we'd find when we got here. Tsuki said you woke the whole compound." His words rumble deep and Juno pouts before looking up at him.

"I haven't had one of these in a while. Not since your Holofication." She moves to stand and comes to stand behind him. She reaches down and grips Toshiro's coat.

"It may be work, but relax. You are home love." Her words are kind as he sits forward and strips off his coat. She takes it and sets it along the table before coming back to sit before him.

"Hyorinmaru was worried, he felt the spike even before I did." Toshiro looks over the two swords side by side. The length of his is twice Kiseichu, the dark blue such a contrast to his black cover. Reaching out, Toshiro touches Hyorinmaru and feels the sword pulse under his hand.

"Kiseichu is being greedy." Comments Juno as she reaches out to place her hand over Toshiro. She focuses just a bit to watch as a stream of reishi connects the two Zanpaktou's. Toshiro turns his hand up and pulls her closer.

"Much too far away, Wife." Toshiro smirks as he holds her close and buries his face in her hair. Taking a deep breath slowly the tension within his shoulders begins to fade. Having her in his arms brings the young captain a sense of relief he didn't know he needed.

"I'm sorry for worrying both of you. I thought we would be fine, but having both of you here is enough to chase the worry for now." As she curls close she lets a hand slip between the shikhakso's top and rests her hand along his bare chest.

"Tell me more of this dream, what was the beast you saw?"

Juno basks in the arms of her lover till finally she closes her eyes. The shake of Karakura echoes in her mind and just at the back she can hear Kiseichu growl. The large skeleton-like beast comes to mind and the four hooded figures channel the reitsu of the town. The town begins to slowly fade from her mind and she feels shakes begin. Kiseichu growls louder as he gets closer to her.

"We will devour each other."

"Juno, come back to me." Toshiro's voice sounds far off as the growling intensifies, the skeleton before them rises up with its hands raised to the sky. Each shadow turns to it and begins to funnel the energy to it.

"I will devour you by the end of this war."

"Juno!" His voice sounds panicked as Kiseichu comes to stand before her. His hands reach out and wrap around her throat again.

"Nothing will stand in our way."

The skeleton's body begins to form, the bone becoming covered in muscle and connective tissues starts to form first, wrapping it up like a muscled mummy, the hands around her throat begin to squeeze tighter. She begins to panic and claw at the wrists of Kiseichu, her eyes widened as she watches flash slowly begin to rise.

"Sleep for now Juno."
