april 1940

cap reached out his side pocket for the note. it was right where he left it. it read 'william' on the front of the envelope. cap pulled out his pipe and shed a tear, some of the other men were slightly concerned; as he never cried.
cap turned on his oil lamp and reached for the shovel and started digging. it was painful to watch- to see cap in such despair, as the digging continued, the more the  scoops looked like he was craving something that was no longer there.
when he finished, he tossed the envelope in the pit. it was over- he mourned for a total of 10 seconds before he re-covered the pit and walked inside button house.
it read 22:00 hours on the clock and cap could not sleep without havers being in the room beside him. he couldn't accept himself for who he was still, even now that havers was gone, he couldn't accept it.

the next minute, the captain couldn't breath due to his senses being overwhelmed. he layed in utter silence, almost as he forgot how to speak. the air was chilling to the bone but cap was as hot as the august sun. there was no proper or logical way to explain how he feels. it wasn't right.
due to the heat, cap got up from bed and headed to the front door. as soon as he opened the door, a gust of wind came flooding inside that hit him like a bomb.
cap ended up being able to rest in the makeshift tent in the backyard.

sorry for the sad and short one :( there will be parts where they are happy dw <3
