Lonette brought Christine and Peter to an Inn nearby that she knew.
A doctor came some time that night to tend to Peter's wound and Christine was so tired that she quickly fell asleep when she lay on her bed. Lonette decided to spend a night too since it was getting too late.
When Lonette woke up she was surprise that the sun was already up. Her eyes look at her pocket watch and saw it was 10 am. Weird... she thought. Usually she wakes up around 5 am, she must be tired. She gathers her belongings and cleans herself off.
But before she left, Lonette went to see how Christine and Peter was doing before leaving.
Peter was smiling and seems to be doing fine. His wound was now cleaned and dressed.
Christine looks at Lonette and smiles.
"How are you Sir? Come have a seat".
Christine offers a chair.
Lonette politely say thanks and sits down. She then looks at the baby, Christine was holding.
"What is his name?".
Christine looks down at Gustave and smiles affectionately.
"My son's name is Gustave".
Lonette smiles at the baby and then looks at Peter.
"Feeling better Sir?"
Peter grins.
"Call me Peter and I am doing much better. Also I do not know your name Sir".
Lonette smiles and scratch the back of her neck.
"Ahh just call me Nate".
Christine looks at Lonette.
"I am sorry I have not introduce myself. I am Madam Christine."
Christine holds her hand out to Lonette but Lonette just looks at her hand confused. Peter laughs and says
"You are suppose to take Madam Christine's hand and kiss it".
Lonette blush from embarassment. She forgot that she was pretending to be man for a moment. She took Christine's hand and quickly kiss it. It felt weird for Lonette, never done that before.
Then there was an awkward silence.
Peter broke the silence
"So where are you heading off to Nate?"
Lonette just sighs and shrugs.
"I do not know really. Just somewhere I can start a new and find a way to make money."
Christine ears perk up.
"You need a job Nate?"
Lonette looks at Christine surprised and nods.
"Yes but I have some money saved up. I am just going to look around and try my luck".
Peter looks at Christine and back to Lonette. Then he says to Lonette
"What kind of things can you do?".
Lonette touches her chin and thinks.
"Well.. I can do house work and um.. uhh...".
Christine interrupts.
"If you want I can give you a job at my household".
Lonette looks at Christine in shock.
"Really? Uhh wow Thank you! thank you Madam".
Christine smiles.
"It is no problem. I just need to talk to my husband and we will find out what you can do in the household."
Lonette smiles gratefully and nods.
"Thank you Madam but I should tell you something".
Christine ears are open.
"Yes what is it?"
Lonette scratches the back of her neck.
"Well... you see, I am not exactly a man."
Peter eyes widen and blurts out
"What!".
Christine just looks at Lonette confused.
"What do you mean Nate?"
Lonette nervously laughs
"I just dressed as a man last night because well as you know... A woman late a night alone, someone might try to do something bad."
Peter and Christine understands now.
Peter chuckles "I really thought you were man. You are pretty tall for a woman".
Christine looks at Lonette head to toe.
"So you really are a woman?". Christine asks unsure.
Lonette nods.
"I have some woman clothing that I could change into and show you".Lonette reassures.
Christine smiles and says
"Ok I can't wait to see you in a dress".
Lonette blushes.
Peter looks at Lonette.
"So what do we call you Miss?"
Lonette looks at both of them.
"Well, my name is Lonette so Lonette I guess".
