Druig stared into the crowd of Babylonians, observing their actions as they enjoyed their evening. His fellow Eternals were stationed throughout the small area, interacting with the locals, and relaxing for once. Druig stood alone under the colorful flags and tapestries, Makkari not far away. He always felt the need to keep an eye on her, but he knew she could take care of herself. Most people thought he and the light-footed Eternal were an item, but they would always casually wave people off. Their relationship was based in friendship and that was that. No, Druig's heart belonged to another. The most beautiful being to ever grace this planet.

"Druig...Druig? You in there?" You waved your hand in front of his face, a teasing smile gracing your lips.

"I'm sorry, m'lady. Must have been lost in my own thoughts." He felt a blush creep across his face.

"Thinking of someone special, are we?" You giggled, wiggling your brows as the taller man.

"Maybe," he paused, nudging your shoulder. "Jealous?" A hint of a flirtatious grin playing on his pale features. You ignored the butterflies swirling in your stomach, pushing his shoulder back with yours.

"Me? Jealous? No way!" You gave an exaggerated eye roll, earning a light laugh from Druig. Gods, you loved the way his laugh sounded. It wasn't often that he would let his emotions show, his usually stoic presence being something you had grown to love about him. Truth be told, you might have a slight crush on your fellow Eternal but that wasn't something you could even imagine telling anyone, not even Sersi and she was your closest friend. She and Ikarus were the ones in love. You didn't want to throw another relationship into the group.

"You don't have to lie, Y/N, I know you're secretly in love with me." Druig grinned smugly, turning to face you fully.

"In your dreams, loverboy." You laughed coyly, trying to hide your own blush from blooming across your cheeks.

"Whatever you say." Druig shrugged, grabbing a pear off the table beside where you stood and taking a bite. You had to stop letting him get to you like this.

This dance had been going on for centuries. You two flirted like your lives depending on it, letting it play out like a game. It had become a dance of sorts between the two of you. Both of you were just too stubborn to admit the truth but you sort of liked it this way. It was invigorating, getting to come to one another with flirtatious teasing and lingering touches here and there. It had become your favorite way to pass time on this planet. Maybe one day you would find the courage to speak up but until then you just played the game.

"What are you two lovebirds talking about?" Makkari signed as she approached you.

"I was just telling Y/N here how I know she is in love with me which of course she denied but we all know the truth."Druig signed back, a cocky grin on his face.

You shot him a faux dirty look, a smile playing on your lips.

"I see," Makkari signed back with a smile.

"Both of you are ridiculous." You waved them both off. "Besides, even if I was..."

"Y/N! It's your turn! Everyone is waiting for you." Kingo yelled from the other side of the small gathering.

Thank Arishem for Kingo.

"Sorry guys, looks like its my time to shine." You shrugged, shooting a wink in Makkari's direction. Taking your place beside Sprite, you got yourself ready for your moment.

"When are you going to tell her?" Makkari signed, poking Druig in his side.

"Never. She's not interested in me. I just like to give her a hard time is all." He shrugged, turning to watch you as you made your way to the center of the small crowd. He wanted to tell you so badly how he felt. How he longed to feel your touch, to hold your hand. To trail kisses down your body and make you truly understand the intense love he felt every time he looked into your eyes. You would never feel the same for him. If he knew anything, he knew you deserved someone much better than him.

"I have something that might change your mind." Makkari signed, pulling an intricately decorated box from her small sling bag.

"What's this?" Druig asked, taking it from the speedster with a slightly shaking hand. Opening the box, he was pleasantly surprised by what he saw. A beautiful ring of ornate silver was placed ever so delicately inside the box. The red stone inlayed in the center shown brightly in the dancing firelight.

"Tomorrow we've been here 1000 years. You should give it to her." Makkari signed, a smly smile gracing her face.

"Yeah, and tell her what? Propose marriage?" Druig snapped the box closed.

"It's just a suggestion." Makkari signed, crossing her arms.

"Makkari, you know I cant –" but his thought was cut off. There, in the middle of the group of awaiting Babylonians, came the most beautiful noise he had ever heard. You had begun to sing. This was his favorite part of evenings like this. Even if Sprite has the gift of illusions, you had a much more amazing one. Your voice was angelic, sweeping over every surface and burrowing down into Druigs' heart. This song, one of his favorites, was one of forgotten love. The beginning was melancholic, nostalgic even. But once the chorus picked up it was a story of lovers finding one another again. The onlookers watched with rapped attention, some even crying at the beautiful serenade. Druig had to center himself to keep from shedding a tear himself. The way your body glowed with energy, enrapturing all around you was more than he could stand. At the same time, he couldn't take his eyes off you. Your line of sight caught his as the song ended and you sent him a soft smile. He smiled back, trying to hide the longing behind his eyes. He knew Makkari was right. It was time.

"I'll take the ring." He said, not taking his eyes off you.

"I thought so." Makkari signed, slipping the box back into his hands.
