When Obito returned home with groceries and takeout food, he noticed that the apartment was deadly silent. Surely Kakashi was awake by now. Had Rin's name taken that much of a toll on him? What kind of fool was he for bringing that up?

What would Rin and Minato-sensei think of him now?

He rushed into the bedroom but didn't see Kakashi underneath the covers. He called out his name just in case, but there was no response.

Getting a bad feeling, Obito hurried through their apartment, repeatedly calling Kakashi's name, but there was no sign of him anywhere. He even checked with their neighbors, but they hadn't seen him either. Losing hope, Obito knocked on apartment 3A's door, tears welling in his eyes.

A chunin in a ponytail answered his dejected knocking. Like Kakashi, he had a scar, but across his nose instead of his left eye. He had tan skin and brown hair. His eyes were crinkled in confusion and slight alarm at the teary-eyed stranger at his door.

"May I help you?" the chunin asked.

Obito quickly dragged his sleeve across his nose. "Have you seen Kakashi Hatake at all? I can't seem to find him."

The chunin tapped his chin in thought. "Hmm... I don't recall seeing him today. Sorry."

Obito sighed, hot tears escaping down his cheeks. "Okay. Sorry to bother you." He turned to leave, but the chunin reached out and grabbed his shoulder.

"Is something wrong with Kakashi? I hope nothing bad happened to him," the chunin shuddered.

Obito squinted. "Who are you, anyways? I swear I've seen you before somewhere."

The chunin offered him a polite smile. "My name's Iruka Umino. Maybe you've seen me at the Academy, which is where I work."

"Obito Uchiha," Obito replied glumly.

"Um, would you like to come in?" Iruka asked.

"No thanks," Obito answered. "Wouldn't want to get snot all over your floor."

Iruka smiled, this time more genuine. "Okay." Then his eyes unfocused for one second and he snapped his fingers. "Oh, that's right! Earlier I saw two men in white uniforms in front of your apartment. One went inside with a large basket while the other stood outside. He saw me and snapped 'move along' so I hurried around the corner. However, I kept watching and the other guy came back out. Shortly after, the same person re-entered with a large hamper. After a while, they came out complaining about how heavy some 'package' was and they left. Based on the situation, I'm willing to bet that Kakashi was inside that hamper."

Obito wondered how the guy wasn't short of breath before the full impact of his words hit him. "Wait, you mean...correct me if I'm wrong, but you think Kakashi was...kidnapped!?"

Iruka nodded sadly.

"But where would they go? And why take him?"

Iruka admitted, "Well, Kakashi's pretty well-known, so maybe those men went to get revenge on him. Honestly, I have no idea where they went, but they must be taking him to some lair."

Obito couldn't believe this was happening. He shook his head forcefully.

"Sorry I couldn't be of much help," Iruka said apologetically.

"No, no, you were plenty of help. Thanks," Obito told him. He took off in the direction of his apartment, dark thoughts storming in his head.

He would get Kakashi back, no matter what. He couldn't leave Obito too, not like Rin and Minato-sensei had.

Wheee I added like, 3 words that weren't here before. They make the sentence sound so much better.
