The last moving box had been opened. Nothing in it had been removed, but it was open nonetheless. Olive sat on her newly bought couch and turned on the TV - the last things could be placed tomorrow she thought. As she turned on her old TV, she started to notice just how loud the cars on the road were. They had not bothered her until now, but trying to watch TV with so much noise was nearly impossible. Maybe she should have found an apartment closer to her mom, out in the middle of nowhere - like she was used to. It was her friend Emily who had convinced her to move to the city "You'll love it here" and "I miss you so much, then I could see you every day" was all that Olive had heard in the months she was looking for an apartment.
Just as Olive decided to turn off the TV and find something better to do, there was a knock at the door. As she walked to open it she caught a glimpse of her reflection in the dusty mirror in the hallway. Her curly dark brown hair looked dirty, but then again maybe it was just the mirror. She opened the door and to no surprise at all it was Emily. The only person Olive knew who lived close enough to visit her around dinner time.
"Olive!!" Emily almost shouted as she went in for a hug.
"Hey, what you doing here?" Olive said startled by the sudden hug.
"Well it is your first night in the city, and as far as I know you don't know anybody here, so I got the brilliant idea, that you and I should take a girl's night out! The city is amazing and you get to meet a bunch of new people, maybe even some guys - doesn't that sound fun?"
To be completely honest Olive would much rather stay at home and go to bed early, but she didn't intend to directly crush Emily's excitement so instead she attempted to come up with an excuse.
"I don't have any clothes for going out and my hair is a mess," She said after a short pause.
"Don't worry! I got you covered, I got some clothes and makeup and I do believe you own a hairbrush" Emily said, missing the point of the excuse.
Not wanting to come up with another excuse Olive decided it would be easier to just go along. Who knew maybe she would get to have a fun evening after all.
It was 11 PM when the girls were ready to leave. Olive had borrowed a blue v-neck dress from Emily which, given Emily's smaller size, was sitting tightly around Olive's body. But it did look nice on her, the deep blue color complemented her brown eyes, like no other color could. Emily had also put some makeup on Olive. Emily was truly just as brilliant at it as Olive was hopeless.
Walking out into the city it was clear that most people who lived here weren't asleep yet, in fact, it seemed busier than it had earlier when Olive first arrived with the moving van. They went down a dark alley that scared Olive half to death when a rat jumped out at them.
"Are you sure it's safe here?" Olive asked - her voice shaking from the shock
"What are you scared of a little dark alley? Come on this is the fastest way there, if you're gonna live here you better start learning, that most of this town IS just tiny dark alleys" Emily said mockingly. Leaving Olive even further questioning her decision to move here. They turned the corner at the end of the alley and Emily stopped and pointed at a glowing neon sign. The sign had a pink martini glass filled with some red liquid and the words Eclipse written in a weird font. Here goes nothing, Olive thought as they entered the dimly lit club.
It would definitely have been a better night at home, Olive thought after being at the club for 2 hours. Nothing much eventful had happened, In fairness, it had been pretty boring. That is of course beside the constant state of a little fear Olive was in. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but the mood in the club was weird. She thought she had caught multiple people staring at her, but she convinced herself it was her imagination. I wanna go home...Now, Olive thought as she swore she saw one more person starting to stare at her. She went to the bar to find Emily, who was throat-deep in some guy with a ponytail.
"I wanna go," Olive said to Emily catching her attention from the guy.
"what? why?" Emily said almost screaming over the loud music in the place.
"This place is creeping me out," Olive said her voice revealing that she was slightly agitated
"No, really?! Come on Olive... whatever I'm staying, if you're gonna be boring go do it by yourself" Emily said turning her attention back to the guy with the ponytail.
Olive got a lump in her throat, and tears slowly crept up in her eyes as she stormed out of the club. She walked down the dark alley as she didn't know another way home. At this point, the tears in her eyes clouded her sight so much that she almost tripped over her legs.
"Hey!" A manly voice yelled behind her. A small glimpse from Olive revealed the man to be a somewhat short but muscular redhead. She quickly averted her gaze and kept walking, now at a faster pace. She heard the sound of running behind her and within seconds she could smell the alcoholic breath of the man a few inches behind her.
"I wanna talk to you," the man said, and put a hand on Olive's shoulder. Completely crying at this point Olive quickly turned around to slap the hand away. She hit it, but as she did a giant wave of something that could only be described as hurricane-strength wind, blew the man backward. He did a backward rollover to recover from the strong push that had sent him at least 5 meters back. Olive stared at her hand in shock over what had just happened.
"See that... that is exactly what I wanted to talk to you about," The man said, struggling as he pushed himself up from the ground.
"Stay away from me!" Olive screamed her voice shaking worse than it used to do in school when she did presentations. She turned away from the man, but as she did she noticed 5 people, 3 male, and 2 female, walking toward her from the other side.
"What do you people want!" Olive screamed as she looked around trying to find a way to escape this unfortunate situation.
"I'm not with them... Get over here now, I'll help you" the red-haired man shouted at her. I'm not falling for that one Olive thought and stayed in place. The red-haired man rushed toward her, Olive screamed and covered her face preparing for a fist to come at her. But it didn't, instead the man rushed past her towards, the 5 people at the other end of the alley. "idiot" he yelled while running past her at a speed Olive thought was not possible for humans to attain. As the red-haired man started fighting the people, Olive stared at them. Run Idiot run! a thought in her head shouted, but she stood completely still... just staring. The fighting was mesmerizing to her, most of the things seemed so unnatural, supernatuaral. This was the last thought Olive had before she passed out
