I sat there quietly. I instantly see a book. I picked it up but before I could read it. "Hey Marcus, come with us," Veronica said with a group of others. "We're headed to the deciding room. We walk to a room with bright lights. I stand on a pedestal and a bunch of people surround me. "Marcus," Veronica said "if you want to be a part of this place we must remove your chip it will hurt but dying hurts worse where do you stand," She asked "My what," I asked "Every cyborg is given a tracking chip remove it you can be with us if not you die," she said. "I don't want to hurt anymore but ...." "Life hurts Marcus you're with us or against us" Veronica snapped. I remember the times life had hurt me all the times I'd been taught to think away or suffer all the time. What have I become? If my life was hurt, was I just the toy for it?

I punched a wall. "I'm not a machine, I'm not a toy" I screamed. I fell to my knees shaking. A person in green comes up to me "I think he is completely traumatized" she said. My mind raced with questions and intrusive thoughts. "Something different about him," a man in blue said. I began to mutter to myself every question that popped in my head. "Yes, something is very different about him," Veronica said. "His conditioning has made him fear rather than be a good warrior" Veronica went on and they dragged me away. As the doctors put me on a bed and then drag me into a room I feel something sharp. I squirmed they put someone on my face and within 10 seconds I was out. I woke up with a headache. A group of people stares at me. "I thought I was dead" I admitted "Not like there was much for me anyway," I said. Aiden walks in, " You have a lot of worth living for Marcus, we just need to find your purpose," he said."Why me though?" he asked Veronica. "Because you showed emotions you're afraid we all are. I mean it's our first cyborg kind in our community" she said. I smiled then everyone cheered. A man in yellow comes up to him "I hope you like it here Marcus" he said "here's your room assignment" He said "First we need you to put on proper clothes" a girl in orange said they hand me an outfit with black jeans and a gray sweatshirt. "All newbies start in these colors but when you decide your alliance we change your colors," A girl in green said "Your rooming with veronica be careful she's a handful," the man in yellow said She looked shocked, "What me why me," she asked. "The last thing we need is for you to scare off another cyborg or potential roommate," the man in yellow said "she is such a stubborn lady," the girl in green said."Come on let's go" she mumbled angrily under her breath. She walks me into a hall. It is strange how colorful it is. All I remember are the white walls of my compound. The walls were painted in various small paintings.

Veronica was way ahead as I stopped to stair. "They're just paintings the inspiration team do when they are bored or some kid comes" she demanded I run over to her. She puts a card in the card reader and opens the door. "Welcome to my place," she said. It was a room with 1 other bed. She had a desk and chair with a tiny cactus sitting by the window. The light was dull but bright enough to see everything. "I'll show you communal showers," Veronica said. She walks me out the door and down the hall to a room off the corner of the hall. There I notice men and women showering in the open and kids playing with duckies as water runs down them. "And the cafeteria is out the other end" she takes me out of the dorms from the entrance and to the other end of the room. There was a larger group of people who sat on stools and benches. They talk leisurely and stick strange devices into their food while munching. I only ate when I was little. When I'd gotten old enough I took a pill to suppress my appetite. I was nervous to eat again. I didn't know what it's be like. "Quit being so nervous," Veronica said. "Well I haven't had food since I was like eight, " I said as I walked into the land with a tray. "Well what's something you've wanted to try?" she asked, "Lava cake," I said suddenly. "Anything else," Veronica asked. "Italian dressing," I said I used to love cake and I'd never had Italian dressing. "Hey, porky garden salad and a lava cake" Veronica ordered. A big man in white turns around. "Alright, here's some Italian dressing for you little guy," he said as I looked at him and grinned. He backs up startled. I stop smiling and walk off. Veronica scans her card. "As the leader of bravery I, unfortunately, have to welcome you to the compound," Veronica said "Why's that such a bad thing?" I asked. "I've never understood how someone like you blindly follows orders, I don't get this whole wanting to change to better yourself your the best you can get," she said
