Chapter 4

Day 1 I sit down for breakfast. Veronica glares at me as I eat eggs and a pastry. I take the sweet cheese inside the pastry and the salty eggs. The flavors were overwhelming. I drink some chocolate milk. I try using a straw but my sharp jaws keep puncturing the plastic. I try drinking the liquid on top of the glass and my teeth but keep scratching the glass. I suddenly sigh, feeling not so good. Suddenly Aiden and his friends shit down. "What got you down Marcus?" Ask the man in white. I can't see his eyes through his tinted glass and I'm directed by his spiky hair. In the compound, we all had the same hairstyle. Everyone in the military cut the boys and the girls but for some reason, the leaders didn't. I was shocked they didn't replace our hair with metal. I'd say it was one of the few things they didn't change from us being mechanical. I remember most of our skin was kept normal though I can only describe a full cyborg person having lumpy skin with a backplate. I remember them talking about giving you new bones, new blood, new organs. I remember some had metal claws. I now understand it was to kill the pure lives. I was lost in the thought of what my full transformation would have been. Emotionless dulled by injections. I suddenly hear Aiden "Hey your zoning out on us Marcus" I shake it off "sorry long night" I replied "I guess morning isn't great either," I remarked."Hey well, you got us," Aiden said Everyone in the group smiles. They put their hands in a circle. I was completely confused by this "What are we?" I asked "put your hand in," Aiden said "I just learned this yesterday" Aiden said. I reluctantly put it in the Aiden guild with my hand upward.

The people in yellow and blue cheer. The man in white takes notes. "What are you doing," I asked her to lower his glasses "Oh curious aren't you," he said "Well I'm getting a behavior analyst on you I do that with all new people who enter here cyborg or pure life," he said "What I found with all people who enter here is they lack an education of pure-life," He said "Even if they have snuck it into their lives" He went on. "Have you learned anything Marcus?" He asked. I remember Veronica said she was born here, which surprised me. "Well, I didn't know people were being born here. How does that even work" I asked? I remember they edited our DNA to make us a better self. They often took a sample from us and put it in a breeder. I'd already in the past given samples from the time I was 16."It's a bit personal. I know you have questioned Marcus but stuff like that is a heavy topic" The man in white wipes his shaggy brown hair. I chuckle now I was more curious. "Thanks for making me wonder more," I joked."He learned sacrarium did she get that from you, Aiden," he asked. Aiden made a large grin and thumbs up "Sure did the son of a bitch now can't stop being delightfully sarcastic" He said "I think your hairy lift made me learn pretty quick" I joked. "Did you two kiss how sweet I knew you two would be a couple" the guy in blue said "COUPLE" me and Aiden said in unison. "He rejected me," Aiden said calmly "WOAH WOAH WOAH," I said at the same time. "Hey, good job Marcus you're braver than we thought you were," The girl in blue said. I wasn't overly insulted by this. I knew I wasn't very outwardly brave. I say nothing, just look away. "Ok?" I said "good to know Veronica, not the only one who makes bets on the cyborg" I nervously replied. "What does veronica have to do with this," the man in white asked I wish I didn't say that out loud "Nothing dude nothing" I reassured "You don't need to hide your feeling Marcus this isn't the compound you from," he said "I... fine Veronica made a bet with me to see how long I last" I admitted "it's like Veronica to put so much pressure on someone like you," The man in white said. "It's like anyone in the bravery alliance to test each other," The man yellow said. "I find it a bit juvenile," the boy in blue said.

A girl in orange sits next to us "hey can I sit here boys" she asked We all say "yes" She goes to the man in white "Donny finished that report" she asked "I have the notes right here" the man in white said "well I can't stay got to get back to work," she said. "You can't grab a cup of joe," Donny asked "you know I care about my job Donny it's very important to me," She said "but what about us sweetie," Donny said "after work ok sweetie," she said she walks off. "Who's she?" I asked Donny. He adjusted his white lab coat. "My girlfriend, she's in the diligence alliance. She's very hard-working, sometimes a bit too much" he joked. An old man in brown pants and lime shirt giggles "Never too diligent son" he said walking off with a cup of hot coffee."He is old you can tell by the brown pants and lime shirt," The boy in yellow said. After a time we all got up and everyone went to work. I suddenly look at a book in the room. There was an older book from 100 years ago before the war before people started turning themself, into cyborgs.
