hello! this part is requested by CerseiandTheLions. it's quite different from all the other stories, which makes this request very special. thank you for submitting your idea, dear <3 (do polskich czytelników: fajnie jest puścić sobie "nic nie może wiecznie trwać" podczas czytania, serio, polecam XDD)

-------------------------------------------------

Backstory: The Reader and James are together for quite some time, they even engaged somehow. The problem is that they have very similar personalities - while they can understand each other better sometimes, there's a negative side to that, for example bigotry and stubborness. At one point, they have a serious argument after which they break up and say that they hate each other, etc.

You sat on the couch, watching morning cartoons on the TV. You didn't have anything else to do but watch them and eat cereal. You kind of felt like a kid again. However, you felt that you forgot about something and didn't remember what it was.

You looked at the clock and then at the calendar. You instantly remembered what you forgot: your family organised a trip to a house they owned near a lake. It was kinda cool to think about meeting your family again.

At some point, the phone rang. It was your mother.

- Hi sweetie! How are you? - she asked.

- Hi mom. I'm fine, thanks.

- Are you happy about our family trip?

- Yes, I'm really excited to see you all again - you smiled.

- We'd love to see ya again, too! You know, me and dad have something to tell you.

- What is it?

- I know that you and James are engaged already, which is wonderful. We thought that it would be a lovely idea to give you four thousand dollars as a wedding gift, you know! We'd like to support you in the best way possible!

- Four thousand? - you were pretty much shocked. That much money was almost too much. - Mom, listen, I appreciate what you and dad are doing for me, I really do. But isn't that... a little bit much? - you were especially concerned because James and you haven't spoke to each other for a couple of days now and you couldn't even think about him, you felt so much spite for him.

- Oh, don't worry, dear. We just want to support you. James seems like a pretty smart and solid guy too. He's perfect for you. I'm pretty sure he'll totally go for it!

- Mom, again, thank you very much, but I have to end now, I gotta, uuuh... - you tried to find an excuse - I gotta answer the door. Bye, love you!

- Oh, okay. Bye honey, we love you too! - you hung up the moment she said that. What the fuck is wrong with my parents?, you thought. You knew them very well and were sure that they wouldn't let go of this idea.

You shook your head and sighed. You didn't want to argue with any of them - including James - you just wanted to have a good time and dreamt of a long vacation.

What you decided to do is call James. You knew it was a bad idea, but you tried it. You wouldn't speak to him face to face anyways.

- Who's that? - a sleepy voice (which belonged to James) asked.

- It's me, Y/N. Listen, I have somehing to tell you...

- Fuck off. I don't wanna hear 'bout your stupid problems.

- That stupid problem involves you, so shut the fuck up and listen. My crazy-ass parents want to give me a couple thousand dollars as a wedding gift.

- What?!

- Yeah, but listen - they organised a family trip. They probably expect you and me to go there with them as a happy engaged couple. I thought it would be a good idea to make a show and pretend everything is perfect, just this one time.

- Are you fucking crazy? I'm not doing that.

- Alright, I'll say that differently: we go there and pretend everything's fine, the trip ends, I give you a box of beer, you come back to San Francisco and we never speak to each other again. Deal?

- Deal. Now get off the fucking phone.

- Get lost, asshole - you hung up. You didn't know how to mentally prepare yourself. We'll see how it goes, you thought.

♥♥♥

You were on your way to the lake where your parents bought a house. Unfortunately, you were all sitting in one car and you had to sit near James to pretend everything's great and all that. It was almost like torture, if you could, you would rip him to shreds.

James wasn't in the best mood either. The tension between him and you grew. You sometimes sang to yourself quietly when there was a catchy song playing in the radio. You both prayed that they wouldn't play "Enter Sandman" or "One" or something. Fortunately, they didn't. It would be so embarrassing for you both.

You finally arrived. You walked out of the car as fast  as you could. It was really childish, but you two really felt spite for each other to the point where you couldn't even look at him, and vice versa.

In the beggining, you barely functioned without screaming at one another. It all was very frustrating and it swallowed you from the inside. Constantly upset, you just did some small talk. Your family didn't even notice the tense atmosphere, they were too excited.

Hours passed and you felt really horrible. At one point James walked up to you and said:

- How is everything?

- It's nice, I guess. What about you?

- It's alright.

- I know that you're just waiting to get outta here. I promise, you'll get your beer.

- Uh, thanks.

Silence. It was very awkward and you just couldn't help but let go of all this anger and hatred for him. You finally broke into tears.

- I'm sorry - you said.

- Oh no, I'm sorry. For being such an asshole all this time. I'm just very fucking stubborn and annoying.

- It's okay. - you wiped the tears from your face.

- You know, I... I really missed you. - he said. You looked at him, still with tears in your eyes. You quickly found yourself in his arms.

- I missed you too. - you started crying once again. He pulled you closer to himself and started to play with your hair. You really, really missed that.

- Alright, no need to cry, angel - he laughed.

You both heard music coming from a far. It was your parents playing 70s disco. It was kinda cringe, you could even say that severely cringe, but you both despised it.

At one point, James kneeled in front of you, saying:

- Will you marry me, Y/N Y/L/N?

- No - you said sarcastically. - In all seriousness: of course I will, James.

- I love you.

- I love you too - you kissed him and he did the same. Life was pretty much a lot better now.
