chapter 2

7 am,3 days from antonios gift ceremony

y/n POV:

i opened my eyes and rolled out of bed hearing mirabel knock on everyones doors as usual,i get dressed and leave my room,to my suprise camilo is standing right outside my door. "god camilo you scared me"
"sorry y/n,goodmorning!"    "morning"

i walk down stairs with him and grabbed a coffee then left to go into town,the village people always seem interested in me because I'm new. I just want to hang around with Camilo tho, I go and find him and he's cheering up some village kids. I smile at him,he's so kind. He walks over to me and hold out his hand. The past few days spent with him have been perfect;hes gentle and funny, he's perfect. I take his hand and follow him through the busy town,sneaking past Abuella and down to the river. He sits down his feet pointing to the blue water,I sit next to him and lean my head on his shoulder. "Y/n,can I ask you something?" He says quietly
"Of course, anything" I reply.
He pauses for a minute before looking into my eyes "your so beautiful you know"
I blush "thanks" I respond flattered
"Your warm and your kind" he proceeded
"I can't help being warm you know that right" I said sarcastically
He laughed "right, but why do I feel such a connection to you. I only met you a few days ago and that very day I felt like I was complete,like I needed you;I can't stop thinking about you mi amor" he sighed like a heavy weight was just lifted from his shoulders.
"Camilo" I smiled and held his hand still leaning my head on his shoulder,he smiled at me watching the morning sun reflect on the glimmering river. "Your so calming" I say to him as he moves my hair from my face and starts to hum a gentle song, he stands and takes my hand gentely pulling me to my feet and wrapping his arms around my waist. I place my arms on his shoulders and dance slowly to his humming, for a minute every thing was perfect.
"CAMILO!" Abuella shouted from afar
"Shit,um I'll see you soon" he says in a panic kissing my forehead before running off to find Abuella.

I walk a different way further down the river, the soft grass skimming my ankles with every step. I hum the same tune Camilo did as my mind floated of to the shortly lived moment. I continue walking for hours on end losing track of time and before I knew it the sky was dark.
"Shit I lost track of time" I say to my self
I walk back down the river and into town,on my way I light any candles and fires that haven't been lit yet. I glance at a nearby clock and realise how late it is and pick up my pace walking quickly through town.

Camilos POV:

"Camilo calm down I'm sure she's fine" my mother said to me
"I shouldn't have left her by herself she doesn't know the town well enough, what if she got lost?" I panicked
"I'm sure she's fine,Dolores do you hear her?" Mi tia Julieta asked
"No I'm sorry" Dolores said disappointed

I stand up of my chair and gently push past my auntie and mother and walk to the front door
"Dear where are you going" Julieta asks
"I'm going to go look for y/n"
"No your not!" Abuella demands
"Mama,let the boy go" my mother says
"No, I will not have him searching everywhere in dark" Abuella responds
"No need" Dolores says with a smile pointing outside at the girls glowing orange dress as she weaves through the town streets lighting her way.
"Y/N!" I shout running out the door and down the hill to her when I reach her I quickly wrap her in a tight embrace "where have you been mi amor, I've been worried"
"I'm sorry I lost track of time and couldn't figure out how to get back" y/n responded
I hug her tighter "I'm not leaving you by yourself ever again I promise"
"Camilo I'm fine I promise" she laughs

I let her go and stare into her eyes with relief, Antonio came running up to us and hugs y/n's legs. She picks him up and throws him into the cold night air before catching him again. Antonio giggles "Camilo was so scared for you,he wouldn't shut up about how much he loved yo-" Camilo put his hand over Antonio's mouth and laughed awkwardly
"Kids am I right?" Camilo said awkwardly
We walked back up to the house greeted by the family,mum carefully took Antonio from y/n.
"Let's get you to bed" my mother picked up Antonio and walked upstairs to the nursery followed by my dad. I take y/n's hand and take her upstairs to my room,I open the door and walk inside of my room filled with mirrors of different sizes and colours I sit down on my bed and she sits next to me her eyes growing heavy with every blink. I lay down and pull her onto my chest. Her head rested on my chest as she fought to stay awake. "Get some sleep y/n, you've had a long day" I say stroking her hair as she falls asleep in my arms. "I love you" I say before falling asleep.
