Just me and you and you and me alone ~ Melanie Martinez

"AHHHH," Cora screamed, running through the murky brown water. She flailed her hands in the air as she ran.
"CORA COME BACK," Eli yelled. She was far too gone. Birds flew from the trees in reaction to the high pitched squeals. "Jesus she's going to twist an ankle or worse," he muttered under his breath.
Nico snickered in his hands and Kendall swatted him on his shoulder. "Nico why'd you do that, she was beginning to have fun."
Victor scoffed, "she was two seconds away from getting in the car and leaving us all here, but carry on."
Kendall frowned and looked into the direction Cora ran off to.
I shook my head, "I still can't believe you put a frog on her forehead." Nico doubled over in laughter. Kendall sent him another glare and he shut up.
"Well thanks to your genius ass idea, we're going to have to find her. Hopefully not screaming her head off in a ditch," Eli grumbled. He took a step into the water and held his hand out for Kendall.
Her lips wavered as she hesitantly took his hand. "I'm starting to not like this idea." Her shoes became immersed in dirty water. A squeak escaped her mouth.
"Let's go Mr. giggles, you're suffering with us all." She grabbed onto Nico's arm before he could run away and dragged him into the water.
She looked up to the sky that was starting to turn pink. "You guys can stay here and finish setting up for the night. We'll be back soon...hopefully," she glanced at the abundance of green before her.
I nodded my head in compliance. I am so mad my mom made me go on this trip. Not only did she make me go, but she decided to stay and have the house to herself. Claiming she has "work" to do, well so do I.
We've only been out here for a few hours and my legs were beginning to fill up with mosquito bites. I gritted my teeth as I slapped another part of my leg. What is it with these little mothersuckers and blood?
Thankfully Kendall brought some spacious tents that won't feel like I'm being crowded in my sleep. Victor and I set up the tents in a triangle around the campfire.
I later pulled a jacket on, the sun was nearly down and it was starting to get chilly already. "Does she want us to cook too?" I looked over at Victor. They still haven't come back with Cora yet.
"We might have to," he got up from his chair and opened the cooler we brought. His eyebrows furrowed and he paused for a second. "You're kidding."
"What," I joined him by the cooler. Packs of ground meat and chicken lay in the cooler along with a few vegetables and dairy products. I groaned, "why couldn't she pack easy things like hot dogs, or burger patties?"
Beside the cooler was a huge container. Inside it were all the tools you would need for a full sized kitchen. "Did she really pack a cake mixer?" I pulled the shiny red object out.
I unpacked the foldable stove that went over the fire. "Victor there's no grill, we're going to have to cook over a real fire."
