'Today is the day... that I will talk to her!' The curly-haired boy determined thoughtfully, narrowing his brows as a nervous look plastered on his face. Peeking at the H/C-haired girl eating her lunch whilst hiding behind the tree far away from her.
Midoriya didn't intend to make it weird by hiding himself while watching over her. He was very nervous and wanted to plan what to say to her before standing in front of her with a loss of words that would embarrass him completely and for the rest of his life.
Midoriya held his lips with his two fingers tightly in deep thought, unaware that he was talking to himself.
"So... I go over there and-" Midoriya started off quickly, "and I say, "Hey, how's going?" then maybe she'll go "oh hey Midoriya, I'm good and-""
Izuku fumbled the words that he imagined the girl to say as he imitated her voice, ""-and how about you?" and we're gonna keep the conversation going, nothing weird..."
'No,' His forehead wrinkled in defeat when he realized how weird and unrealistic it sounded, 'That's a bust!' his fingers disconnected his lips as he shook his head frantically as if he was disagreeing to do the dangerous deed with someone, except it was just him on his person.
"No, no... I shouldn't say "Hey, how's it going?", it sounds too cheesy, doesn't it?! Right? So, should I say "Are you having a good lunch?"... erm, no, too weird! She might freak out! How- How about; "May I sit with you?"? No - what if she thinks of me weird with that question?!"
'Oh my god, I can't even talk to a girl! It's gonna be the end of the world—' When his panicked shiny emerald orbs eyed the form of his female classmate packing away the lunch, '— wait! She's going to leave!' agitated him even more that he has wasted so much time worrying about how he will interact with a female human.
'I can't pay to worry a lot about this, this is now or never!' Izuku fixed up himself in a rush before coming out of the tree when she wasn't paying attention.
"H- H- Hey, L/N-san!" A rushed greeting stalled the girl, peeking back to the side to see who was calling her out.
"Hm?" The H/C-haired girl recognized him in an instant, a scrawny target whom that spiky-haired weirdo was picking on with his gang that she found absolutely embarrassing. Her brows raised as she asked, "Are they picking on you again?"
That question made a nervous boy's eyes grow wide, not able to get used to someone's help and standing up to his bully. The someone, who cared about a quirkless nobody like him getting bullied.
Yet finally, now there was. And it was her.
It made his heart to blossom in warmth. He'd be very glad to be friends with her! Perhaps, she's different from them, she might hear him out rambling on being a hero in the future? Would she support him?
Before he sputtered, he lowered his gaze trained on his shoes and fiddled his fingers on his slight baggy gakuran whilst his wavy lips cracked into a sunny smile with a flush on his cheeks. "N- No... th- they aren't..."
Forgetting what he wanted to say due to her question pushed him into his euphoric thought. But he knew he had to start talking, or lose the opportunity.
Slowly, his emerald-hued eyes lingered back on the girl's face, "I- I actually, um, wanted to thank you for- for helping me out for many times! And, uh! If- If there's anything I can help L/N-san with or—or anything you need help, please—please let me know!"
L/N raised one of her brows at him, who was so anxious that in others' perspective would make L/N seem like a feared person that he had to owe to her as a punishment. Whereas Y/N didn't expect it from him, a boy who was kind of fragile and scrawny and small compared to her, named a good-for-nothing quirkless kid.
Instead of saying something that others would expect, she gave him a look that showed no intention of using him in any way. "You don't owe me for that."
The curly-haired boy perked up to her, giving every full attention to what she had to say, "These scums are empty-headed for making differences in people who are quirkless and not."
Ultimately, she tipped her head a bit forward with a look of suggestion, "I'd suggest start training and start having confidence in yourself. Don't let yourself lose all of your confidence because that's what they're goin' for."
Midoriya remained silent to her statement, it was enough for him to admire her after that thoughtful speech but he feared that it might be only in his imagination all along and she was actually saying very different.
Hence, he had to grasp on his sight that she was still in front of him with that same look and her lips moved. ".....ou shouldn't give up and learn to stand up for yourself, else in the future, no one's gonna do it for you."
Holy cow! She was actually saying that!
"Th- Thank you..." A mumble slipped his mouth, he had to process all of the information in his brain capacity that almost burned down.
Despite all of those overwhelming feelings smacking his soul left and right, in every direction possible that One Direction went in the other direction.
Midoriya was left pondering how he was still standing and conscious.
With the last flash of L/N's small smile before she went off, Midoriya had to cherish that moment in his head. 'Oh my god! Oh my god, she - she smiled at me!!'
Belatedly, her form began to fade from his view, he stayed still, covering his mouth in glee. "N- No way! I did it...!"
He bit down his lower lip inside hopefully that he could try to talk to her more and eventually become friends!
