Perry was finished with a goods train, and he was ignoring a diesel who was boasting.
The diesel thought he was listening, but Perry wasn't. Soon, he just wheeshed steam, and left. City of Truro and Harriet Hall, or Harry as he liked to be called, were just sitting in the sighting. "I swear these diesels are just annoying," said City of Truro. Just then, a horn was heard, and a new diesel came up.
"Oh no," whispered Harry to Truro, "Here's another boastful engine." But to their surprise, the diesel said, "Hello. My name is Barrow. Who are you?" "I-I'm Harry, and this is City of Truro." "Wait, THE City of Truro!?! The first engine to go 100 mph!?!" "Y-Yes, that's me." "Oh my goodness!! Am I even allowed to look at you!!??" "Why wouldn't you?" asked Harry. "Well, you steam engines are just really special, and us diesels are................ nothing." The engines were amazed at the manners of this engine. Usually, diesels were not very kind, but this one was very kind. "Hey, you just want to be really useful, just like every other engine." Barrow smiled, and said, "Thank you Mr. Truro sir." "Just call me Truro." Barrow smiled. "Say, what type of engine are you?" "I'm a new Metroplolitan Vickers Diesel Electric Type 2." Harry and Truro looked at him, and said, "Um, what?" "Class 28 for short." "Oh," said Steve. "Anyway, I'm here to learn the rules of the rails."
Soon, Barrow was learning all the rules, and he soon became good friends with the engines of Paddington. Just then, a big class 37 came in, and looked at the engines.
"Oh, look at this group of misfits," he said, "I'm surprised this station hasn't closed down. At least you have ONE proper engine." Barrow then said, "Hey, these are my friends!! You show them respect!!!" The diesel just scoffed, and said, "You're friends with these kettles? Hmph, then maybe you belong on the scrap heap with them." City of Truro couldn't take it anymore. He screamed, and raced forward, bashing into the diesel, and yelled, "GET OUT OF HERE!!! I GAVE YOU A CHANCE!!! I GAVE ALL YOU DIESELS A CHANCE, BUT YOU JUST THREATENED TO SCRAP ONE OF YOUR OWN!!! YOU'RE EVEN WORSE THAN I THOUGHT!!! LEAVE NOW, OR I'LL BASH YOU INTO A BOG AND HAVE YOU DROWNED!!! DAMN YOU DIRTY DIESELS!!! DAMN YOU ALL!!!!" The class 37 rolled backwards, and City of Truro chased him out of the yards.
Harry and Perry were shocked. Never in their lives had they seen City of Truro lash out at an engine like that before. Not even the LMS or the other regions. Truro then backed down, and said, "I'm sorry. I just couldn't take it anymore. They just-" "Hey, not all diesels are like that," said Barrow, "If they were, then I would be disowning you right now." Truro smiled, and said, "I'll give some a chance, but they'll have to earn it." The engines smiled.
