Naomi's POV:

"He's so cruel!" Princess Yona cries out and lays her head against her folded arms on the table, "I can't believe you, Su-won. How could you ever buy that story?"

"I think you're cruel for saying it," Hak says with an annoyed tone in his voice, "what a pain in the ass."

"I was only doing what Naomi told me to do!" Princess Yona argues with him.

'Oh sure, go ahead and drag me into this princess,' I thought in my head.

"You told her to say that?" Hak questions me.

"No, I did not encourage her to tell Lord Su-won that you two were engaged Mr. 'Grumpy Pants'!" I snap at him.

Hak glares at me and growls in discontent at the name I just called him.

"All I suggested to her last night, was that if she wants Lord Su-won to start noticing her as a woman then she should try to converse with him about adult-related topics!" I explain myself to him.

"Well you did a great job at that," Hak remarks sarcastically.

I growl at him and was close to reaching for my dagger that I kept in my belt when King Il jumped into the conversation.

"I hate to admit it, but you getting married might not be too far off," He tells Princess Yona, "It's time we start thinking in earnest about finding you a suitable husband."

"But," Princess Yona whispers in shock till she starts denying him with a loud voice, "No! I want Su-won to-"

"You can never marry Su-won!" King Il cuts her off with a firm voice.

We all gasp in shock at the King's denial of Princess Yona's request to marry Lord Su-won. What confuses me is why King Il wouldn't approve of Su-won? He's his only nephew so that makes him of royal blood and I think that he would make a fantastic king.

"No Princess, don't," Min-soo tries to stop Princess Yona from arguing further with her father, but Princess Yona doesn't listen.

"My love life is none of your concern!" Princess Yona tells her father, "so you can't tell me who to love or marry! That's my business!"

"Yona," King Il intervened her rant, "ever since you were a baby I've given you everything you've ever wanted without a moment's hesitation, everything but weapons. Beautiful jewelry, ornaments for your hair, a royal villa, and botanical gardens. But no matter how badly your heart may ache for him, I simply cannot allow you to marry Su-won. You are the only princess of our beloved kingdom, that's not something to be taken lightly. Your husband will one day become king of this great land."

Princess Yona stares at her father with misty eyes, like she was about to cry. Then she averted her gaze downwards and says to him with a weak voice, "I don't understand. He's the son of Uncle Yuhon, your older brother. Su-won is of royal blood."

"Yes that's true, but as the king, it is my duty to choose a successor to the throne," King Il reminds her.

"Why not him?" The princess questions her father, "Su-won is brave and compassionate, he can handle weapons and behave justly, while you're nothing but a coward."

The king's face turns into sadness as he explains to Princess Yona, "I have my reasons for appearing cowardly, you know that well. Since your mother was killed by insurgents I can't stomach violence. The royal family lives under the constant threat of harm and danger, that's our lot, it always has been and always will be. Which is why I have never remarried."

That is true, ever since the queen was lost to us many years ago the king has never thought about having a new queen. That has shown me true loyalty to love, but I never thought that it would endanger a person's life for living into royalty.
