You had been cold all day even though you were wearing multiple layers under your nurses uniform. You were perched behind the desk at the nurse's station, an infrared light spending some warmth.

Even though the St. Lucia rehabilitation center had been just renovated, the icy wind still made its way through the old windows as they were firmly closed. You shivered.

Today had been an especially cold day on the coastline and you could feel that winter would soon wrap its cold arms around the city, coating it in a dress made of snowflakes and ice.

You looked around and realized that all patients had vacated the sitting lounge and had already retired to their rooms for the night. You checked the clock and it read just after 8pm. When your gaze shifted to the medication tray you were glad to see that they all had taken their pills for the night and you wouldn't have to seek out anyone in their room.

Today marked your one year anniversary of working at St. Lucia State Hospital. When you had started at the facility you had just started your nurse's training at a different hospital and it had taken you quite a while to gain the older nurses trust.

Even now, you were sure Nurse Bucket didn't like it when Dr. Hanover confided in you, always wanting to hear about new methods you had learned during your training. She loved to belittle, criticize and degrade you in front of the patients, making it hard for you to do your job. You figured she was just not happy with herself, probably sad about Dr. Hanover not liking her as much as she liked him.

Your thoughts were disturbed by Nurse Buckets loud voice piercing through the calming silence that had enveloped the sitting lounge.

"Nurse Ratched forgot her purse in the Nurse's lounge - yet again. Since you're just sitting here doing nothing, how about you take it to her?", she pursed her lips disapprovingly, "you're not doing anything useful anyway."

You let out a sign and Nurse Bucket huffed, haphazardly putting Nurse Ratched's bag on the counter and pointing towards the door, "it wasn't really a question.", Bucket's tone remained hard, "I am sure Dr. Hanover would not be pleased to hear about his newest nurse being disobedient when his HEAD nurse asks her to do something."

You glared at Bucket but figured it would be better than sitting around in the cold hospital. Without a word you took the bag and made your way to the changing rooms, happy to be able to put on your thick sweater and scarf that you had discarded earlier when you had put on your uniform.

When you finally made it to your car you turned on the heat as high as it would go. You knew it would probably not get really warm until you got to the little motel where Nurse Ratched lived, but it was better than nothing.

You drove along the coastline, the radio playing some old song by The Rolling Stones to which you hummed along. You were so deep in thought that you didn't realized that it had already started to snow, the glittery flakes covering the world in a magical white dress.

As you pulled into the parking lot of the little motel you stopped to admire the beautiful coastline and listened to the waves crash against the rocks. You made your way to the reception and had to cough as soon as you entered since you were immediately greeted by the smell of cigarettes.

"Oh, aren't you a little drama Queen?", the woman behind the counter smirked but despite her words she put out her cigarette when she stood up and grabbed a key out of the little shelf. "Room for one?"

"No, thank you.", your hands wiping some snowflakes off of your coat, "I am actually looking for Nurse Ratched. She forgot her purse at work and I am here to bring it to her."

"Oh, I see. I am pretty sure Nurse Ratched is enjoying the company of a gentlemen right now.", she grinned, "but she is staying in room 10."

You just nodded at her, turning around to escape the smell of cigarettes even though you were sure it had already stained your clothing. "Thank you.", you waved the receptionist goodbye as you closed the door behind you.
