Beep, beep, beep

I groan, waking up to turn off my alarm I set the night before.  I stay in bed for another 5 minutes, going through socials and texting back my friends.

I only have two friends. I was never was a popular kid at school. People knew me, but never became friends with me. People talked to me if we were in the same class, but that's where it ended.

But I do have two actual friends. Reese and Sofia. My ride or dies.

I've known them since I was five. Since kindergarten. We became friends in an odd way, to say the least.

I was getting bullied by Sofia. Sofia kept on saying how I look ugly since I was standing in front of the bathroom mirror. She even decided to go a little bit further by saying, and I quote

"Mirrors don't lie, lucky for you, they don't laugh either" says Sofia.

Don't let the soft name of "Sofia" make you believe that she's not a badass.

Now Reese. She overheard everything Sofia said to me and decided to put her in her place, and I quote again

"Do you ever get exhausted by being and unholy unbearable. Like saying "the mirror don't lie" blah blah blah when's the last time you even looked at a mirror and thought you looked pretty...Never."

To say I was stunned beyond relief is the decade understatement.

But it didn't end there. They got into a physical fight. Yea. A. Physical. Fight.

The teacher had to separate them and they both got a week of detention.

When they came back to school a week later, they apologized to each other and me surprisingly. After that we just...became friends, and never stopped being friends.

I go to my bathroom to get ready for the six hour school day. I brush my teeth, floss, brush my hair, and apply some light makeup. My makeup is very simple, some concealer, blush, eyebrows and mascara.  Nothing too crazy since I don't know how to do makeup.

After finishing my bathroom routine, I head to my closet and pick out an outfit. Today was some mom jeans, a black crop top, my Nike Blazers and some jewelry.

Then suddenly I remember that papa drank last night, which means he's either asleep or going to hurt me.

I grab my book bag and unlock my door, and listen for any noise that will come from papa moving around.

I hear nothing.

Good. That's good.

I tiptoe down the stairs,  and of course. on the second last step it squeaks.

I freeze. Waiting for papa to make noise.

Nothing.

Thank the lord.

I finish ascending down the staircase and tiptoe to the kitchen to make my routine coffee.

Fun fact, I have a venti Starbucks cup that I brought so it looks like I get Starbucks everyday. My friends think I'm crazy. But they just don't get it.

I make my vanilla iced latte with caramel drizzle on the cup and grab my book bag I left on the step and leave the house.

Immediately, I sigh of relief that something didn't happen this morning.

I walk to school since I live only 20 minutes away which is actually good since I get my steps in. I like walking, for the right reasons of course.
