The sun was setting but covered by grey clouds. Fine drops from light rain fall on Jacques's head as he stood standing near the shrubbery. He spend hours thinking of what to say to Ophelia. How can he tell her that her father prohibited him to be near her? Or rather, how can he gather the courage to tell her the truth?

Then, Ophelia's hand grabbed his shoulder. He sees her and gives her a forced smile, but his eyes couldn't hide his distress. She knew those eyes. No doubt that either her brother or her father talked to him after they were caught in the lake. "Jacques, you look melancholic," she whispered, "My father said anything to you?"

"He did," his saddened voice could tell Ophelia what he refuses to say. Her family oposses their relationship. His eyes werr embodying a look she didn't want to see at all. "I am sorry."

"No. Don't be," she sushes him, pressing her fingers to his mouth. "It is my life. And...I love only you," she finally confesses and hugs him knowing now it's true. "I love you, Jacques. I love you."

Its breaking him. To hear from her mouth say she does loves him back is breaking him. This girl, so small in his arms, deserves everything but him. "As do I, Ophelia. It is a feeling I never had before." He gently breaks the hug to look at her face. "And I want to marry you." Ophelia's heart could not be more joyful, he was proposing to her, but his tone of voice shows otherwise, "But I don't deserve you. You can't love me."

He is belittling himself again, and she can't afford it, "Why not? I know who you are. I care not of the world that see you differently."

He couldn't be more enchanted by her. Daily she demonstrates her sincere love and he can't tolerate that he has been dishonest with her, that he once didn't see her as a woman. He has to tell her even if he loses her.

"Sweet Ophelia, I must tell you-"

She interrupts him with her lips brushing his. She doesn't want for him to continue. Doesn't want him to keep talking of how he is less than everyone. If that's why he feels he doesn't deserve her, then she doesn't care. She loves him and so does he, and that's enough. He kisses back, pulling her body to him as she wraps her arms around his neck. They'll never let go of each other and pretend nothing else exists but them.

But a pair of hands violently tugs on the collar of Jacques's shirt, forcing him to break the kiss and turn around. It's Hamlet's fist that then crosses Jacques's face. He hits him with all fury, knocking Jacques to the ground.

"Hamlet! What are you doing?" she asked furiously, kneeling to lift him off the ground.

"You will not waste away your honor by this abnormal, this monstrosity!" Hamlet unsheated his sword.

Jacques had no intention to provoke him anymore, but Hamlet is crossing the line. He's insulting him again and his attitude is threatening for him and Ophelia. "I will not tolerate another of your insults, Hamlet!" he shouted with blood coming out of his mouth.

"You have played very well the role of an enamored man," his said with sarcasm, "Your play is over!"

"Hamlet!" Ophelia shouted standing between him and Jacques, and raises her hand to him as to block him away. "Let him be. You are not thinking straight."

"Open your eyes, Ophelia! He is using you!" He points his sword to Jacques, "He knew my love for you from the very beginning. He seduces you to break me."

Ophelia is tired of Hamlet smearing on Jacques like he always did and has to put an end to it, "Stop voicing untruths against Jacques!"

"Hear me out! He only wants your virtue to later throw you out." He waves his sword as he speaks, "Tell her! Tell her what you told me the evening of my feast. What was it? 'Women like Ophelia only live to indulge our appetites'? You deny you've said that? Did you not kiss her at the ramparts the minute you saw me?"
