Chapter Three

Today is the day. The first quiz bowl tournament against Exillium. Dex, Sophie, Keefe, and all the other kids that are going got on the bus. It was raining so hard I had to write this on the bus before the tournament.

Dex, Sophie, Keefe, and I are the main ones in the tournament. The people that will fill in for us names are Stina and Jensi.

Stina acts like a mean girl but she is really nice under the surface. My theory is that her parents put a lot of pressure on her and she acts that way because of it. That's why she is in quiz bowl. Her parents are making her.

Jensi is a weird nerdy kid but is respected for it. A lot of boys sit by him at lunch and watch anime. People call them the drooly boys. They only call them this because they drool over 'hot anime girls' as they tell you THEMSELVES.

Anyways, you probably want to know about Sophie and Keefe. Most of what I know is rumors but in this week I did learn about some things about them.

I know thee two have been best friends since second grade. There a bunch of rumors that they were dating and others that Sophie has another boy in mind but hasn't seen him in years. One thing that is "confirmed" (don't ask them because they will just ignore it because they have never gotten caught) is they are they best prank duo in the whole school. They are also some of the most popular kids in school.

Sophie is really kind and doesn't have much of a temper but can when she's mad. I heard that if she does unleash it is usually really bad. I also heard she picked up some of these skills from the other guy she has in mind. Again, just rumors.

Keefe is really funny. He does pranks and loves his friends dearly. I heard that he runs away from his problems a lot. I don't know I'd that is true or not. Another thing I don't know about if it is true or not but I heard he has a hard home life. I don't know about that though.

When we finally got to Exillium, we all acted as it was so long. It wasn't. It's ten minutes away. This another reason why we are big rivals.

When we got there, we were shown backstage and we practiced a little. I asked if I could go see if my parents were here though the curtain.

Thing is, I knew my parents would not be here. I just wanted to see how many people are here.

Let me back up a little. My parents are not here because they are either at work or at Lihn's Swim meet. Lihn is the favorite. They tell me that. A lot.

Anyways, another reason I wanted to look was to see the Exillium kids. They looked nerdy. Like Jensi.

I walked back to group. Right now, they are all on their phones.

I think I was the only one who didn't have a phone. My parents said I could have one in ninth grade. I'm in 10th grade so they should get me one,  right?Maybe if we win, I could convince my parents to buy me a phone.

I don't need one but I think it would be cool to have a carry around camera. Plus, I could have an Instagram account that is only for my photography. Maybe I could get famous with that.

I sat down next to Dex. He was watching a Disney movie with headphones. I motioned one of the headphones and he gave one to me. He was watching some sappy romance called "The Princess Bride"

I've seen a few times because Lihn loves it. Right now we are are at the point where the Priness finds Wesley. She finds out he's a pirate.

Anyways, instead of watching the movie, my mind wonders to the quiz. I go over all of the possible questions there could be that we practiced. I remembered them all luckily. I felt a little relieved.

Next thing I knew Sophie and Keefe had us going on the stage. We sat down and I looked around. I saw a lot of people. I knew none of them.

A few minutes later, the announcer was announcing our names. I didn't listen. Not even to Exilliums kids. I didn't need to know their names. I just needed to focus in the questions.

The first question was easy. It was " 'It's raw' is a catchphrase for what Scottish-born celebrity who has hosts the reality tv show Hell's Kitchen and Masterchef?

I got that one quickly. Lihn loves cooking shows and one of the only ones I will watch is Hell's Kitchen. I said Gorden Ramsey and got it correct.

My mind went into auto pilot after that.

After awhile, I couldn't tell you what the rest of  the questions were. I could maybe tell you the first three qusetions.

We were almost done with the quiz bowl, losing by only three. We were figuring out some qustion. Like I said, I was kinda out of it.

While we were talking, the auditorium doors opened. In walked a youg lady. When she walked in I figured that she was probably around Keefe's and Sophie's age. She started walking to her seat and we started talking again. We didn't need to though. I had already gave them the answe.

Once we done conversing, we sat down waiting for the announcer to say the question again so we could win.

I was looking out into the audience to see if I could see that young lady again.

Then, I saw her. Biana Vacker.
