(Reminder!!! I'm not a historian! Just a 14 year old kid who likes history!)

Before we go into history about the two princes let's go about the history of the painting itself.
This painting was painted by Sir John Everett Millais in the Victorian era, specifically 1878. This painting shows King Edward V and his younger brother Richard of Shewsbury, Duke of York, locked in the Tower Of London. Probably with the association of Shakespeare's Richard III, but I can't confirm it. (Fun fact! The title "The Two Princes In The Tower" was actually coined in Victorian Era.)

The story of the two boys started when their father, King Edward IV died. King Edward V became King at the age of only 12 years old, his uncle Richard, Duke Of Gloucester, took the title Protector Of The Realm.
When he was on his way to be coronated in May 4, 1483 he was suddenly taken and detained and kept in the inner apartments of Tower Of London. His younger brother soon joined him somewhere in June.
From my memory, I think the reason of this was due to a misunderstanding between Richard and the Queen's younger brother.
In the same month of June, the King along with his siblings, were declared illegitimate due to King Edward IV having a marriage contract with another woman before his marriage to Elizabeth Woodville. And so, Richard who was the Protector Of The Realm, became King Richard III.

Just a few days or months, the two princes disappeared without a trace... No one still know what happened to them... Even now, it's been hundred of years and we still don't know!
Maybe they ran away! Maybe they're just there in the Tower the whole time! No one fucking knows!

But the most popular theory is that they were murdered, by either King Richard III, King Henry VII, Elizabeth Beaufort, Henry Stafford, and a few more, but I don't know... No one knows... Probably no one will ever know.

But! Recent history! Two skeletons was found in 1674 under the staircase of the Tower Of London. However, we can't confirm if it's the two princes because the church who took in the skeletons won't allow scientists to test them.
