And that's it,
They wanted more.
I did too, for a while, but, there is no more.I would love to tell you that we stayed best friends, but we didn't even keep in touch.
All we had were those three quick years,
when we grew and we laughed and then, we outgrew each other. And that's okay,
It was all temporary anyway, it was never meant to last we were just- killing time.
March 26th, just as the blossoms were finally beginning to bloom.
A date I would forever remember, not just as a reminder for what was to come, but to mark the tragedy that set everything into motion. It was a balmy yet crisp morning, as I stretched and yawned, my thoughts only just coming to life after a long night of dreaming within my sleep.
As my brain rolled into motion I recalled what had happened in my head during these past few hours,
'huh.' I reached out my stiff arms and grasped them together, pushing them high above my head and stretching as if to awaken them also.
I hummed almost annoyed, my first day off in ages and immediately I'm stressed out, thinking of some random people from my past.
"Aghhh,"
I let out in exasperation,
"Stop it stupid brainn, you're supposed to be relaxing todayyy."
"Although, I do kind of miss them..
Nope stop you're done, stupid dreams getting in my way and distracting me."Not in the particular mood to be careful, I grabbed the sides of my sheets and tore them off, resulting in them crumpling down to my side. I decided to instead go and make myself some breakfast rather than reminiscing about something like that from back so long ago.
The whole house was silent, but, in more of a comfortable early way, even the birds hadn't awoken yet to sing another morning grace as they usually would.
I padded across the carpet quietly but heavily, taking the chance to rub my face and get the sleep out of my eyes.
"Ugh, morning breath, yuck"
Finally, I was inside the kitchen on the floor below, reaching for a glass to pour myself some cold water to erase the taste filling my mouth.I sighed in content, looking around the room.
I'd done pretty well for myself.
I currently lived in a two bedroom detached house near the agency in which I worked, but not just any agency, MY agency.
Yep, mine, I'd managed to get pretty high up the hero charts, not high enough to be invited to those super cool events just yet, but nearly.
It was an exciting life honestly, much more than I felt I deserved but- I have to give myself the credit for being able to do this much you know?"I really need to stop getting so sappy in the mornings."
I randomly declared to no-one in particular, the words just kind of falling from my mouth.
I set my glass down by the sink, thinking I would refill it when the time came, then got started on making some food.I sat down roughly at the rectangular table in the centre of my kitchen, plopping the food onto a mat, set down in front of me.
Just as I began to eat, cutlery still in hand, I heard a knock on the door.
'could it be the mailman? This early, really dude?'
"Ughh"
I pushed back from the table, pulling my chair to the side and began to walk to the door.
I twisted the lock, then pulled the heavy material towards me, stepping back to observe the other side.
"Hello?"
"Hi, I have a letter for you."
A smiling man called from the steps below, well, I suppose not really called, he wasn't that far.
"Ah, thank you,"
I returned his smile then went to shut the door once more as I waved him off.I hummed loudly to myself, looking at the cover of the letter
"Seems pretty formal, huh? Who died?"
I chuckled slightly to myself, the thought obviously not crossing my mind of what the letter might actually contain.
I ripped open the entire top section with a single flick of my wrist, then peered in to check it's contents.....
"Oh"
