George took a deep breath. In and out as he stared at the trippy, starry abyss of the portal linking to the beginning of the end. He barely felt Dream's hand tighten around his in a comforting action as he focused on breathing evenly.

He was scared. And he didn't want to admit it out loud, afraid it would make the feeling all the more real if it was spoken into the shared air between the two. Afraid that if he showed fear, Dream would think he was weak.

"Welp." Dream's voice rang out slightly in the dim room they were standing in, almost too loudly. "We're almost there, huh." He stated the obvious; hidden meanings left behind in his words as they hung in the air for a few seconds. Meanings that George was able to dissect from the emotions riddled in his green eyes.

Dream was scared of the unknown, scared of dying, scared of what happened next.

George smiled slightly up at him as he moved his body in front of Dream to draw his attention away from the awaiting portal. He reached up and drew Dream into a hug, which the blonde gratefully accepted.

"We are. And we're going to get out, safe and sound." George comforted this time, beginning to rub Dream's back in circular motions to calm his anxiety. Partly to calm his own as well. They were so close to getting out, he was almost crippled by excitement and worry.

"Let's just hurry this up." Dream said, pulling back from the hug so as to prepare to leave.

George reluctantly let him go, but before Dream could let go of him, the brunette pecked a small lingering kiss on his lips. Dream blushed slightly, still unused to the affection. He ran a hand down his face as if to dispel the blood rushing up behind his skin before giving up and rolling his eyes at George's smug face.

"Do you have everything you need?" Dream double checked, searching his own inventory for the items he would need in the end. He pulled out an ender pearl and held it in his right hand. He looked up to check on George who met his eyes after a few seconds and nodded. "Yup."

On that note, Dream took a deep breath and faced the portal once again, reaching out to grasp George's hand. "On the count of three?"

"On the count of three."

"One." He gripped the hand in his a bit tighter.

"Two." Closed his eyes.

"Three." Jump.

"We're here. You can open your eyes again, silly." A shaky giggle sounded in the chilly air as Dream flushed and opened his eyes quickly. George smiled up at him, waiting for him to take in their surroundings. And he did.

Thankfully, they were underground, safe from the ominous, tall endermen, and from the prying eyes of the dragon flying somewhere above them. He could hear the muffled backwards language of the enderman through the floor and just barely, the quiet but frightening roar of the Ender Dragon.

Dream felt himself relax ever so slightly, familiarity with the game coming back to him slowly. He started to remember the skills he had learned over the years with beating the end. He shook himself slightly as he stretched his arms.

George tilted his head at him, "You look ready." He said, an iron pickaxe was in his hand, prepared to break the endstone around them to get up.

Dream grinned down at him, "You're right. I am. Now the question is, are you?" He pulled out a pickaxe as well as he spoke. George frowned, "Nope." He shrugged, turning and starting to mine the wall into a staircase up. "But, when have I ever been in this game?"

Dream laughed, quick to follow the brunette up. "Actually, that's a good question." He teased, climbing out onto the open island ground beside George. His joking manner fell from his lips as he saw his face.

George had paled considerably, staring, mouth parted slightly up into the sky. Dream turned quickly and absentmindedly stepped forward slightly in front of George, prepared to fight whatever he was staring at.

But the threat wasn't on the ground, it was in the sky. A big, black, winged creature making its rounds around the tall, intimidating towers holding its source of healing. Dream stared unmoving up at the dragon, swallowing thickly.

They had to kill that thing. Without dying once.

He shuddered, before taking George's shoulders into his grasp. "Hey, hey. Listen up. I will fight the dragon, how about you just take out towers." He told George, staring deep into his brown eyes.

George quickly shook his head, "I can help kill the dragon. I'm not a child." He said defensively, frowning slightly as he came back to earth. He crossed his arms to further emphasize his point.

Dream huffed fondly, admiring George's ability to defy his nerves and force himself to face his fears. "Alright, let's do this together then, pull out your bow." He compromised, pulling the desired item out as he spoke.

George made sure to quickly imitate his action, readying his bow with a white feathered arrow. He looked up and nodded at Dream, who nodded back.

And they were off. Doging enderman's eyes and bodies, and missing only a few shots as they destroyed each crystal with a simple arrow. The dragon was becoming angrier as they managed to evade her breath, so she began swooping in to try to bat them into the abyss with her powerful wings.

And she kept failing. Much to her great annoyment.

Eventually, the towers were all gone and the Ender Dragon became tired. She circled the middle and then came to rest above it, perching gracefully on the bedrock pillar to regain her strength. She roared, sending deafening waves of sound at Dream and George as they closed in on her.

She could only block their swings with a calculated wing hit, and that was a hard task to complete, as the humans below her were small and hard to hit. She felt her health draining, and with a burst of restored energy she pumped her wings hard and took off in a flurry of artificial wind.

George ducked, managing to avoid her wings as she left, but Dream did not fare as well. And before the blonde could even begin to yell out, he was thrown up hundreds of feet in the air and began to fall.

His quick reflexes forced him to fumble a water bucket out of his inventory and place it on the ground just in the nick of time as he hit the liquid. He laid there in the water as he caught his breath from the heart wrenching fall, but he quickly looked up as he heard footsteps thundering towards him.

George fell to his knees beside him, running his hands cautiously over Dream's body to check for injuries. Dream quickly waved him off with a dismissive hand motion as he sat up and gathered his water again.

George released a relieved sigh and helped him to his feet. "You good?" He asked, just in case.

Dream smiled at his concern. "Yep, never felt better." He joked, earning him a playful punch to his shoulder. He laughed at George's pout.

A roar sounded, and the two looked up. But not quick enough. Purple breath exploded beneath their feet and in one quick motion, Dream shoved George out of the way. He was only in the magic breath for a few extra seconds before he had jumped out of its harming air as well. He winced as the effects faded rather quickly, and then got to his feet once again.

George was at his side again, shaking his head at Dream. "You should've just jumped, stupid, I could've helped myself." He said, but there was no bite to his words.

Dream smiled at him, "No fun in that." He shrugged as George rolled his eyes. "Whatever, come on. Look, the dragon's perching again." George pointed at the middle pillar and true to his words, the Ender Dragon was circling to perch.

"Race you." Dream, ever the competier, pushed George lightly and took off towards the dragon. George was quick to follow, a laugh bubbling up in his throat at Dream's antics.

They were almost out.
